No one on the EMT staff was capable of performing a tracheotomy? Shoosh, what are they trained to do? A simple incision laterally on the trachea would have saved a life. Methinks municipal insurance rates don’t allow full life saving techniques to be taught or applied by city employees. Too bad.

Sweet Jesus, what happened here? This child died. What did the paramedics do? Push the foreign object further into the child's lungs? How in the hell did this happen?
Tracheotomy. They don't teach this to EMT’s in this county?

The student's teacher told an investigating deputy that the student was autistic and had "tongue manipulation issues," according to the incident report. These days a child with any type of mental illness is called autistic.
