He was a working actor until he was 42. May not have been on hit tv shows, but between VH1 shows and personal appearances he made six figures easy. Probably more. He’s done voiceover work too.

He was working as a mall security guard at one time and filed for bankruptcy in 1999. He may have gotten residuals from Diff’rent Strokes reruns, and he may also have gotten money from “meet and greets.”
