It was a question that left NHS staff gasping in disbelief: the survey wanted to know how cool they would rate Adolf Hitler, on a scale of one to five.
Cool is not a word usually associated with the Nazi dictator who plunged the world into a war that cost tens of millions of lives. To add to their discomfort, the ambulance employees were then asked to rate Hitler in comparison with their own chief executive.
Workers were also asked to rate the coolness of other leaders including Richard Branson, Gordon Brown, Winston Churchill and the England football team manager, Fabio Capello. The survey, entitled Making Leadership Cool, is part of a £10,000 project that will help the NHS West Midlands Strategic Health Authority to devise a new leadership strategy.
But even mention of Hitlers name in connection with an NHS initiative has raised eyebrows. The questionnaire was circulated to all 3,300 workers at West Midlands Ambulance Service last month after two paramedics applied for a bursary to carry out the survey. The authority will use the results to develop a leadership development programme.
Staff were asked to rate Ian Cumming, chief executive of the NHS West Midlands Strategic Health Authority, on a scale of one to five. They were also asked if being gay, funny or black made a leader cool.

Well, as I recall he did institute socialized healthcare for the Aryans. Not so much for the others, but hell, that puts him on sacred territory reserved for Castro and Chavez. Hitler was a socialist who might have taken the race thing a bit far. Its not like we would elect a racist socialist here?
How cool was Obama?
How cool was Margaret Sanger?
Maybe if Hitler rates “cool” enough with NHS employees, eugenics will be introduced into the British health care system sooner than originally planned.
And those who passed this medical test were given a medical diploma and now are full time brain surgeons in the NHS system..
Keep in mind that Kissinger originated the term “useless eaters.”
For what it’s worth, Hitler adored dogs. It was people he didn’t care for, German or otherwise.
So what you’re saying is Hitler preferred German Shepherds to German shepherds?
Henry Kissinger originated the term “useless eaters?” I’m curious when and in regards to what?
Kissinger was in a off-camera conference concerning the sustainability of a larger population in the United States in the 70’s. Present were the usual bankers and Harvard lawyers he’s always associated with. The subject came up of who should live and die to maintain a stable population. He said that it would be easy to “separate quality from the useless eaters,” which I believe was an allusion to something Mao had said when the latter was engaged in forcing the starvation of tens of millions.
I’m uncertain of the exact time and place of this quote. I’d have to do some digging, but not much...I was first made aware of it in an article in Washington Times, if I remember correctly.
And Hitler would often abruptly leave off even important conversations to greet a dog. His favorite was an Alsatian named Blondi, which he poisoned before blowing his own brains out.
