Anybody out there with osteoarthtitis? I was diagnosed three months ago and it seems to be getting worse. Any advice would be welcome. By the way I have a good doctor but anything anyone suggests I will take into consideration.

I am 41 and was diagnosed at 39 with osteoarthritis in my hips. I am having them both replaced next month.
Celebrex helps.
God bless.

Stay away from a wet cold climate. Oregon is kicking my butt and I can’t leave until Mrs. 31R finishes grad school :-(

Here’s some things to look into.
Vitamin D3+K2 and Magnesium help with calcium metabolism.
Resveratrol.
Cetyl Myrostoleate.
Good Luck!

Be careful with Celebrex. My mom was prescribed Celebrex but she was allergic to Sulfa so the doctor should have never prescribed that medicine to her.

Whatever you do, get yourself fixed the best you can before Obamacare kicks in.

http://www.ehow.com/facts_5016269_benefits-alkaline-diet.html I had a large, nasty noncancerous tumor last year. One year on the alkaline diet: gone. Doctor didn't believe it. Long story...Doc wanted to go in....
I postponed for certain reasons, and hit the improved eats meanwhile. The tumor wasted away...no surgery necessary.
I mainly eat fresh fruit; raw and cooked veggies; almonds, figs; garlic & cloves as supplements; white meat; cider vinegar & real soy sauce & ‘red hot’ sauces as soup bases; sea salt; herbs; green tea w/ lemon.
Avoid all colas, limit coffee [biggest contributors to acidity...used to guzzle for years].
Exercise. A worked body repairs itself to a great extent.
There are lists of food that combat body acidity. Figs are the super-food.
If it doesn't help the osteoarthritis, is will get your body in combat-ready shape, anyway: drugs are a major contributor to acidity.
Good luck.

The Alkaline diet (also known as the alkaline ash diet, alkaline acid diet and the acid alkaline diet) is a diet based on the theory that certain foods, when consumed, leave an alkaline residue, or ash. Minerals containing elements like calcium, iron, magnesium, zinc, copper, are the said to be the principal components of the ash. Foods are thus classified[citation needed] as alkaline, acid or neutral according to the pH of the solution created with their ash in water. One of the most famous proponents of the alkaline diet is Robert Young, who has come under scrutiny from the National Council Against Health Fraud.[1] In general, the diet involves eating certain fresh citrus and other low-sugar fruits, vegetables, tubers, nuts, and legumes and avoiding grains, dairy, meat, sugar, alcohol, caffeine and fungi. Such a diet is alleged to help to maintain the balance of the slight alkalinity (7.35-7.45) of blood without stressing the body's regulators of acid-base homeostasis.[citation needed] Proponents suggest adhering to the alkaline diet might prevent cancer, fatigue, obesity and allergies.[2] However, there is little to support these claims beyond some evidence suggesting that an alkaline diet might aid bone health, [3] [4] [5] and some evidence that cancer cells grow more quickly in an acidic solution in a lab setting.[6] There is little scientific evidence to support the wide-ranging health claims of the alkaline diet proponents. A similar theory, called the Hay diet, was developed by the American physician William Howard Hay in the 1920s. A later theory, called nutripathy, was developed by another American, Gary A. Martin, in the 1970s.[7] Others who have promulgated alkaline-acid diets include Edgar Cayce, D. C. Jarvis, Robert Young, Herman Aihara,[8] Fred Shadian, and Victor A. Marcial-Vega.[citation needed] The theory behind the alkaline diet is not widely accepted by the medical community

A lot of people say they have been helped a great deal using natural supplements: glucosamine, chondroitin sulphate, hyaluronic acid, MSM, and others.
Do a search on natural remedies osteoarthritis and the supplements above individually and read up — you can get the above in health and vitamin shops.
If it’s really bad and it’s your knee, ask your doctor about Synvisc — this is an injection into your knee of the same type of fluid that is in your body naturally, to help cushion your steps, it lasts 6 mo to a year, I know people who were helped by it.

Kicked in on me at 58 (Now 63). Primarily in knees and thumbs and knuckles (When thumbs act up, that is the worst).
Been able to manage it decently with Aleve.
Had to adjust lifestyle somewhat, No jumping from higher than 1 foot, If I have to nail something I don't use a hammer, bought nail guns. No more target practice with the 44 magnum.
These are just some examples of things I do to avoid jarring joints.
The hardest part was having to admit that I couldn't act like I was 30 anymore and had limitations....Bummer, but managing pretty good for time being.
