Bret Michaels's health has taken a turn for the worse, PEOPLE has learned: After an excruciating headache late Thursday night, the star was rushed to an undisclosed hospital where doctors discovered he suffered a massive subarachnoid hemorrhage (bleeding at the base of his brain stem), according to a source close to the situation.
Michaels, 47, is currently in critical condition. "After several CAT scans, MRIs and an angiogram, [doctors] decided to keep Michaels in the ICU and are running several tests to determine the cause. [It] will be touch and go for the next few days while he is under intense observation," the source says.
Reps confirm this report is accurate, and tell PEOPLE, "We will have no additional information until further testing is done."
Anyway, I hope he gets better. First and foremost he is a father of two young daughters and even with his celebrity antics seems to love them a good deal.
P.S. Bret is also a Type I diabetic and this isn’t helping matters any I’ll imagine.
What strikes me about this is that we sometimes live our lives like death is some distant event reserved for the very aged. As this starkly demonstrates, death can come at any time and we all need to be prepared for passing into eternity.
I hope Michaels gets better and has a chance to grasp this fact.

He just underwent an emergency appendectomy in the last 10 days or so, too.
After seeing the above picture, I was going to be a smart-aleck and say "Who is she?"
OK, so I went to Wikipedia and saw he was the lead singer for the 1980s hair band Poison (for benefit of those others who never heard of Bret Michaels either).
I do know of the band and the music but I'm not that good with keeping up with the names of the individual band members.
yes. you nailed it. so very, very true. blessings out to Bret and to his family.
Tomorrow is promised to no one.
How true. I just found out last night that a friend of mine just lost his 26 year old daughter to a massive stroke. Last month another friend of mine lost his 20 year old son, a private in the US Army.
We do not know when God will call us. We had better be ready.
I’ve seen Bret on a few episodes of Red Eye, likeable guy IMO, although the comments after the linked youtube video of him on Red Eye are gross.
I hope he gets better too and wonder if the hemorrhage is connected to having had the appendectomy. Lost a newborn baby to a cerebral hemorrhage from a lack of oxygen during delivery, so I’m curious about his surgery.
Found this on youtube also..quite a hit to his head last year, could or could not relate to what has happened to him now. And again the comments on youtube are so disgusting.

...and Doogie Howser is a jerk!
I also wondered about a connection. I have a few very successful Hollywood type friends at least two have had very similar situations that ended their highly successful careers as even if all turns out well their is extreme fatigue, daily headaches, sometimes massive to frequent cognitive challenges that makes processing difficult in specific areas and unpredictably so. Also depression is always a given no matter what the spiritual life proceeding. Their is the mental/emotional as these are often type A personalities with a gift of sensitivity and also the biochemical challenges.
Prayers to Bret. To get just to the latter just described is a BEST case scenario. His life is forever changed, but seeing his determination and lovely sensitivity to others he will faire well. May he have a solid (or develop) a strong spiritual life.
Isn’t Bret also a big-time off-road motorcycle enthusiast?
Perhaps he had an accident, and could that have been a contributing factor?
Oh wow, forgot about that.
