The amount of sea ice covering the Arctic dramatically increased last month, reaching levels not seen at this time of year for nearly a decade.
The scientists who released the data stressed that last month's rise was part of yearly variations in ice cover and could not be taken as a sign that global warming is coming to an end.
But sceptics argued that the findings undermined 'alarmist' claims that the North Pole could be free of summer ice by 2013. -snip-
The best measure of the health of the Arctic was not only the amount of cover, but also the thickness of ice, he said.
But Dr David Whitehouse, of the Global Warming Policy Foundation think-tank, said: 'The recent observations make the 2007 projections that the region would be ice free by 2013 look very unrealistic.'

I’m going to laugh when next year the Arctic Sea ice extent goes over the ‘normal’ 1979-2000 line. The Leftists are going to have a conniption over that. They’ll have to reformulate their propaganda strategy to get on the winning side with the cold.
DUH! Something that does not exist to begin with won't have an "end" associated with it anyways!

It befuddles them because instead of looking at the facts, they are looking for facts to back up their beliefs.
They atually tried to sell something similar to this after the snowstorms in VA,MD,DC so don't laugh too hard.
The heat that would be over the northern hemisphere is sinking down to the southern and melting the antarctic ice. This is proven by a small section of the anarctic that is losing ice. The rest of the antarctic is not really gaining new ice it is just swelling up.
The same swelling may be happening over the arctic as well. I will need 20 million in grant money to study this.
You know, I could actually buy that... More heat = more energy + more evaporation = more storms with more moisture. Ergo, bigger snows, more hurricanes, etc etc etc
Makes sense, except that the same people try to sell "Drought" and "less snow" and "less hurricanes" exactly the same way.

They just throw stuff out there and hope it sticks to someone stupid.
If they had picked one story and stuck to it.... "Global Warming = More Snow for DC" .... then every time it snowed in DC, GW con men would say "See! I told you!". And the people would nod in agreement and think "Hmmmm, there might be something here". Government grants would fall from the sky, and few would be the wiser.
Instead, AlGore (and others) slapped a "Caused by Global Warming" label on everything from Hurricanes to Male Pattern Baldness and turned the whole thing into a running joke.
For us, 'Tis better to be lucky than good, I think. That's just my $0.02, though.

Hot water freezes faster than cold water, and hot air rises above cold air, pushing the cold air down to the arctic waters, making the polar bears colder, causing more ice to form and eventually bringing on an ice age that will freeze much of the Northern hemisphere, and there won’t be enough whale blubber to heat the igloos. Just ask Algore. The sun will quit shining, and the moon will slink away, and the earth will be left sitting in the water and out of the water, without form and void, unless we pass cap and tax, ride bicycles and stop eating meat. Repent!
No, they will just get amnesia like they always do when reality intrudes on their doomsday scenarios, and melting polar icecaps will go down the MSM memory hole to be replaced with some other scary story they can use to frighten children and weak minded adults.
