Active 'Patriot' Groups in the United States in 2009 [as per SPLC]

Intelligence Report, Spring 2010, Issue Number: 137

The Intelligence Project identified 512 "Patriot" groups that were active in 2009. Of these groups, 127 were militias, marked with an asterisk, and the remainder includes "common-law" courts, publishers, ministries and citizens' groups. Generally, Patriot groups define themselves as opposed to the "New World Order," engage in groundless conspiracy theorizing, or advocate or adhere to extreme antigovernment doctrines. Listing here does not imply that the groups themselves advocate or engage in violence or other criminal activities, or are racist. The list was compiled from field reports, Patriot publications, the Internet, law enforcement sources and news reports. Groups are identified by the city, county or region where they are located

Just a quick look, but I think Michigan and Texas have the most "patriots."

Scarin' 'em with tales of heavily armed, knuckle-dragging rural white guys is the SPLC's biggest money maker. If the SPLC ever goes public with an IPO.. WOW! Can't wait.

Their Idaho data is a bit off. There’s a few more than is listed (some unlisted actually are neo-nazi hate groups).

One they have listed last I looked was one guy (not really a “group”) and his web page has been disabled by his domain host. Not sure if due to non-payment or due to his host not liking his page though.

We're fighting hot wars in what, 3 countries right now? Thousands dead on our side, tens of thousands dead on the other side?

In our country we have had endless terrorism acts since the Mother of Them All 9 years ago now. One even included an Army officer openly murdering 13 soldiers - something unheard of in American history.

All of this because of Muslim terrorists.

On our border, and in our cities, the citizens of the country next door perpetrate endless acts of intimidation and violence, and dream of the day when they rule us by sheer numbers. They got a good man just last week.

But...the SPLC says it's the Evil White Christians who are the Real Threat.

Southern Poverty Law Center is a knuckle-dragging left-wing hate group. Why would I trust anything they say?

The "Southern Poverty Law Center" is a socialist and racist organisation of poverty pimps and fear mongers.

If you lived in the south, and were poor, and needed something to do with the law, do you suppose that the Southern Poverty Law Center would be the place to go?

~SIGH~ Well, it's only a matter of time before my "peers" in the teaching profession bring this one up to me. Last time was 1996 and I was teaching in a middle school when this too cute young female math teacher called out to me from across the Teacher's Lunch Room: Hey, Mr. ______ are you a member of one of those loony Militias? Back then, I had a decent reply: Naaaaaw, but not because I disagree with their goals, it's just that they can't teach me anything NEW That was enough to send her screaming from the room, whereupon the rest of the group resumed lunch. The general consensus was Mess with a sharp instrument and you're gonna get cut!

Now I have a better comeback for the likes of her. Much better, more succinct and to the point: Naaaaaw I wouldn't hang out with that bunch a PANSIES!

That ought to top the last eruption of teacher sense of "outraged" liberalism!
