Saw it at the checkout at Walgreen’s last night. A really fine movie.
Colonel, USAFR
What you left out is that the family who took in the young man is white and he is black.
Apropos of nothing, the following comes to this twisted mind; a snippet from a commercial for “AngaDream” on an old Firesign Theatre record:
“Marge, I just don’t know how you find time to be the president of the World Bank and still make the greatest peccory pie in all of Longbough!”
You got it right, Soccermom. It was Fred Smith’s production company, and the producer was his daughter. My son goes to the “real” school (in a Memphis suburb) which declined to let Hollywood use its name, just in case. (They kept the school colors, though...) The young son in the movie is going there now, along with my son.
Michael Oher did go to play for the Ravens. This is a GREAT movie. Around here, you couldn’t get a ticket to an evening show for about two months after the release. They did take some license, and did misquote a scripture (written on the arch), BUT - you are right again - it DID make sure to include the religious component of these people’s lives. They are serious about Christ, as is the school.
PS: Blind Side is a remarkably good film that portrays a family of Christian Republicans actually practicing what their faith really teaches. HIGHLY unusual coming out of Hollywood.
You must be so proud of that school and your town.
Yes. Thank you. I am always eager to let people know I’m connected with that school... Even though I don’t think I’m big enough to do what the Tuohys did. They really took a risk to do the right thing.
If there’s a Family Christian Bookstore in your area, check there. We’ve got it. :~)
Thanks for the info. No, I was not even vaguely aware of what the movie was about. I guess Hollywood slips up from time to time and puts out something decent.
I’ll have to drop by our local Super Target. Hopefully they will be in stock. I liked the movie and it actually got me to go to a movie theatre for the first time in 10 years.
Hope you rent it, if not buy it.....
LOL! You sound like my dad....It seems he is never impressed with movies, and he like this one.
The wife and I watched it last night the best movie we have seen in a long time and Sandra Bullock has never looked better
And your point is ?
My point is---why leave out one oif the most important elements of their story? If he had been a white kid, there wouldn't have been a movie...white people take in white kids everyday.
Can't believe you had to ask!
You know darn well why I asked
You can't read my mind....now you think I can read yours?!
Are you "nuts?"
