TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION <vanity>

Two-hundred-and-thirty-four years ago our forbears rose up and overthrew the existing government in a just and honorable rebellion against a tyranny which forced them to pay taxes to a body in which they had no representation. While they did not like the taxes themselves, it was not the taxes alone against which they revolted, rather it was being taxed by a disconnected government in which they had no voice or representation.

America was founded upon the very principle that we would elect “representatives” to go to Washington D.C. to express our will. Ours is a government which only legitimately does its business “with the consent of the governed.” When and if that government deigns to operate in opposition to the consent of the governed, and where the loudly expressed voices of an overwhelming majority of the voters go unheeded and un-represented, those are then the actions of an illegitimate rogue bastardization of our Constitutional process.

The same founding documents which lay out the guidelines within which our government is constrained to operate, also makes demands upon us, and on what we should do, should that government ever become “destructive of” those clearly stated ends.

We must not allow this illegitimate, out-of-touch, out-of-control government to continue to shred either our Constitution or our Founding Principles.

It has become a bit of a cynical cottage industry for our Senators and Representatives to claim that they were sent to Washington to “vote their conscience.” A telling indicator as to the integrity of this ploy is that the only time we ever hear this disingenuous canard is when their votes or actions run in direct opposition to the will of those whom they were elected to “represent.” Such a claim is the last refuge of a scoundrel who cannot vote his conscience, because he has none. If he had a conscience, he could never vote for something that both opposed the will of his constituency and was destructive of the precepts of the free and sovereign nation which so many have bled and died to preserve.

Merely voting these snake oil salesmen out next November falls well short of the consequences actually deserved by such treachery. These people deserve to be dragged out of office bodily, publicly humiliated, and then incarcerated and prosecuted for abdicating their oaths of office, for repeated breaches of the public trust, and for treason against the United States of America.

The time has come for good people across this still-great land to unite in the common cause of restoring our Constitutional Republic; in responding to our just and honorable obligation to preserve and protect that which we have been blessed by God to receive. We will vote the offenders out in November, but those whom we send to replace them must have the clear mandate that theirs is also the responsibility to see the conspirators whom they replace brought to justice for their treason.

At the very least, no departing, shamed member of Congress should be allowed to collect on his pension for having served the public good; for truly, they did anything but.

TOPICS: Chit/Chat
KEYWORDS: abdication; traitor; treachery; treason
Just voting them out so they can go cash in at our expense is unthinkable. We have to make striking examples of these miscreants, to discourage any who may follow in their path.

Create a fund for taking out "Hall OF Shame Name List" ads in the Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, etc., every Sunday for a year. Any better ideas?

The Obamacare bill has unConstitutional content and
will be passed in an unConstitution process,
paid for by illegal payoffs setup by illegal meetings,
all directed by Pres_ _ent Obama,
who appears to not be a natural born US citizen,
and who makes no pretense of whom he serves
or of where he is taking America by the above.

“There is scarce a king in a hundred who would not, if he could, follow the example of
Pharaoh — get first all the people’s money, then their lands, and then make them and
their children servants forever. It will be said that we do not propose to establish kings. I
know it. But there is a natural inclination in mankind to kingly government. It sometimes
relieves them from aristocratic domination. They had rather have one tyrant than 500. It
gives more the appearance of equality among citizens, and that they like. I am
apprehensive — therefore — perhaps too apprehensive — that the government of these
States may in future times end in a monarchy [not called a monarchy but an executive
with monarchial powers]. But this catastrophe, I think, may long be delayed, if in our
proposed system we do not sow the seeds of contention, faction and tumult, by making
our posts of honor places of profit. If we do, I fear that, though we employ at first a
number and not a single person, the number will in time be set aside, it will only nourish
the fetus of a king (as the honorable gentleman from Virginia very aptly expressed it),
and a king will the sooner be set over us.”

-- Benjamin Franklin

“Western thinking has become conservative:
the world situation should stay as it is at any cost;
there should be no changes. ....
The communist regime in the East could stand and grow due to the enthusiastic support
from an enormous number of Western intellectuals who felt a kinship and refused to see
communism's crimes. And when they no longer could do so, they tried to justify them. In
our Eastern countries, communism has suffered a complete ideological defeat; it is zero
and less than zero. But Western intellectuals still look at it with interest and with
empathy, and this is precisely what makes it so immensely difficult for the West to
withstand the East.”
[Aleksandr Isayevich Solzhenitsyn at the Commencement, 8 June 1978, Harvard University]

[Found before a statue of Hussein-I in a radioactive desert]

We all heard of an undocumented man named Obama ,
Who denied the confusion with a lost Kenyan or Osama.
The man wanted our country defeated,
With every single natural American deleted,
Said he, “If my death panels don’t work, I’ll let them bomb ya”.

Unfortunately, when they have no shame, it’s hard to humiliate them - Rangel, Jefferson (La), Dodd, Frank, Pelosi, Reid, Craig, Spitzer, Sanford... sorry my fingers are getting tired.

Perhaps, but it's not hard at all to tar and feather them in front of the C-Span cameras...

I could never understand how these folks could ever have any respect for anyone that would vote for them.

Since his dad was not an American, which of course means he does not meet the criteria to be President, even though he was elected, do the secret service have to protect the a$$hole when we kick him out of office?

If the answer is no they don’t.. there will be no place for him to hide.

There is no more egregious violation of “taxation without representation” than borrowing and spending the money of those who are not even born yet.

They don't respect us, or the Constitution. They see us as tools to be used at election time, other than that, they don't want to know us. Too bad, because they are damn well going to hear us this time.

The end is near for all of these traitors. Time for them to get an object lesson in how hard it is to find a job.

"We should send them all “enjoy your early retirement” cards.

That's an idea worth doing. I'm going to pick a couple whom I really detest and send them off this week. GREAT idea!
