I have anecdotal evidence only re Norway. Norwegian relatives of some friends of mine on the east coast of USA tend to visit here every couple of years.

One of the things they LOVE to do here is go get full eye exams, RXs for new glasses or contacts, and receive them in hours or days, all while here on vacation. These Norwegians claim it would take them at least six months or more to get the exams and new glasses if they used their own ‘system.’

My own relatives are from Norway as well, and while they say they get decent care, they admit they are taxed beyond belief for this ‘care’ and other government-provided ‘benefits.’ They are glad to have it, probably because it is the only system they know!

I personally think ALL of these comparisons to the US system fail because none of the countries with ‘socialized medicine’ in place have anywhere near the population we have, nor the diversity. How do you compare the system of Norway, service some 4+ million, with our 300+ million inhabitants? Canada? Canada’s population is under 40 million. Same for the UK.

Good luck with your research!

lol that is ridiculous. It takes a pop into the office and if they are busy you get an appointment for a little later. Might have to wait for glasses if you need special designs that needs to be ordered or if you live rural you have to travel or wait for the traveling eye exam buss.

this is a comment to this claim. least six months or more to get the exams and new glasses if they used their own ‘system.’

The system works and would work in large states. Because you divide the system into smaller manageable systems.

You get access to care immediately if needed. If not needed 70% get it the same day the others wait if they can. the second opinion and specialist care is the same, the less urgent the longer you wait, within reason.
