Some cities have directional microphones to listen for gunshots and send officers to the sources of the sound.

I swear I'm going to buy a big hat and big dark glasses to wear whenever I go out in public!

I bought some of that spray on stuff that's supposed to keep your license plate from being picked up by cameras, but I doubt if it really works.

Is this a great free country or what!

So the police will not be on hand to prevent or deter crime, but will be able to view it from the comfort of the desks, and can notify the coroner when approriate.

When seconds count, the police are minutes away.

At best, they witness your murder and think they know who they have to look for.
