My HOA regulates dog ownership in writing. Unfortunately they don’t regulate it in practice. Of course, it’s hard to tell whose dog did the deed on the public areas. We can’t let our 18 month-old daughter play in the grass anymore because of the messes left around. It seems that during the winter, because it’s cold and snowy, that the dog owners don’t feel like they need to clean up after their pets at all.

I had an extra wireless router that I decided to fire up to send a message. I changed its SSID to “Pick Up Your Dog $#!7”. I have noticed that two of my neighbors have been more diligent in picking up since I started broadcasting. It’s too bad the signal doesn’t go further and reach more than a couple of buildings.

Looked all over for a pic or mug shot but found none. This pig’s face needs to be known.

While I agree that intentionally injuring/killing animals for perverse reasons is absolutely wrong; I wonder if all the righteously irritated doggie lovers react this way when confronted with the horror of abortion on demand?

Have we become so inured to the facts of life that a doggie with it's throat cut raises the ire of our people, but when PEOPLE DO MUCH THE SAME AND WORSE TO AN UNBORN HUMAN, ARE WE CALLOUS AND NOT AROUSED TO THE SAME LEVEL OF IRE?

God help us.

This woman should be punished for cruelty to animals.

Let your ire be raised for the silenced voices of our murdered children. To those of you who “cry havoc” at the malicious injury of pet dog, but are silent at the destruction of our progeny, shame. Flame on.

I’m a dog lover, but I agree, it’s very frustrating when people are irresponsible, period. I pick up after my dog whenever we go out, and generally, she uses my own back yard, which I also pick up. About 2 times per week I find that someone has left me a gift on my front lawn, which I also pick up. I have thought about putting up a motion detecting camera to see if I can figure out who it is, but I don’t think our HOA would do anyathing.
A couple of years ago, I saw one of our neighbors with his dog (off leash) and the dog was using another neighbors yard, and then the guy just walked away without picking it up. This was about about 5 am, I’m sure he felt totally safe. When I sent an email to our HOA President, he forwarded the note to the guy! And of course, took no action at all. ANd of course, the guy denied it, and the only proof I had was my own lying eyes!

For killing a dog??? Let get a little perspective here, sure she’s a mean vindictive b@tch but hey there might be some mitigating circumstances like the dog made her feel threatened or possibly looked at her cross eyed. If you ask me this was all the fault of the boyfried anyway since he should have known better than to argue with her and risk upsetting her. Give her 40 hours of community service and him a year in jail for good measure.

This is where my deep-seeded dislike of dogs is planted. We had a corner lot growing up and my brother and I spent 3 hours every Saturday just doing the lawn. It looked nice and we enjoyed it, but people walking their dogs always let their dogs do their business on our lawn and we had to pick it up—not just once or twice, but nearly every day. Even from a young age, that bothered me immensely.

I know that some dog owners, like you, are responsible. Some dog owners, like those in rural areas, don’t have much to think about. Unfortunately, my experience is that most people love their dogs more than they care about being respectful to other’s property.

Why must all animal cruelty threads be such jerk magnets.
No one cares or wants to read about your dislike/hatred of cats, dogs or wild animals or about the time you or some member of your family killed someones pet.

Really tho, think about how irresponsible many people are, period. They throw their trash on the ground, they make a mess anywhere and expect someone else to clean up after them, they vote Democrat.... It’s pervasive. It’s just that it’s gross to encounter doggie doo.

I know of what you speak! Many times have I yelled at people walking their dog(s) to come back and pick up their dog $#!^ off my lawn. I won't give up either... and the look they give me is priceless.

I have 3 young kids who love to play in our front yard. How dare people let their dogs "do their thing" and just walk on. Really a peeve of mine - and I just looove catching them!

...
Sorry for the thread drift :)

So why not make smallish signs that you attach to a bamboo skewer or half of one, that say “My neighbor’s Dog Pooed Here. Keep Your Child Away.” OR, something similar. When you see a pile of poo, just stick the sign in the middle of it and leave it for all to see. Maybe someone will recognize their own dog’s poo-place.

OH, seriously: If a dog has worms and the owner doesn’t pick up the poo, other animals AND CHILDREN as well as adults can pick up the worms.

From: http://www.petshed.com/petcyclopedia/human-risk-from-worms-in-dogs.html
Canine roundworms can also cause diseases in humans. Worm eggs are excreted in dog feces, and after two weeks in the environment they become infectious to humans. If accidentally ingested, the worms can migrate to organs like the liver, lungs, brain and eyes.

As these parasites are not supposed to be in a human body at all, the immune system responds by trying to wall them off to stop them moving any further. The disease in humans is known as visceral larva migrans, or, if in the eye, ocular larva migrans.

“Some parasitic canine diseases have more serious effects in humans than they do for dogs, as humans are an abnormal host for them.”

Politely and helpfully inform your HOA and ask them to provide residents with a newsletter which you will gladly go around and place on everyone’s door knob if they don’t have another way to inform the residents. After all, it could become a pandemic or perhaps the Health Department might investigate.

More from the article:

The signs of this disease depend on where the worms move to. If to the eye, permanent loss of vision can result; in the lungs, a cough or asthma-like signs can begin. Some people show no symptoms of disease. Children are at a higher risk of infection due to habits such as eating dirt, kissing pets and lower attention to hygiene.

Humans may also be infected with canine hookworms. As with roundworms, eggs are excreted in infected dog feces. These become infectious after five to ten days in the environment, when they have become larvae or juvenile worms capable of penetrating skin. When they come into contact with bare skin, they virtually “eat” their way in. They migrate under the skin leaving extremely itchy, red, swollen, winding tracts in their wake. This condition is referred to as cutaneous larva migrans.

Some canine tapeworms are also zoonotic. The most common dog tapeworm is the flea tapeworm. This is not readily transmitted to humans, as swallowing an infected flea is required to become infected. However, when it does occur, infection is more common in children. The symptoms are similar to those in dogs; segments of tapeworms (resembling grains of rice) being passed in the feces and sticking to the anal area.

Taenia and Echinococcus tapeworm species can also be contracted by humans from accidental ingestion of dog feces containing infectious eggs. These types of tapeworms form cysts, such as hydatid cysts, in the human body, most commonly occurring in the liver and lungs but also affecting other organs. Left untreated, these hydatid cysts can grow to over a foot in diameter, with surgical removal often required to cure the disease.
