This woman may actually be telling the truth which would mean an even bigger scandal.
If she wrote a pro Obama piece for a few small papers and then other papers picked it up, faking local addresses to make it appear local people were supporting Obama, then this is a media scandal showing how they will do anything to support Obama.
So then she lied to get herself published.
And other than the fact probably a great many of those publications veer left, I find it very hard to believe she managed to get the same letter published all over the country in a very limited window of time without help or knowledge by the papers of what she was trying to do.
If all of these letters were e-mailed, then I figure this wouldn’t be too difficult to pull off for a single person. Just send out the same letter over and over to different addresses, altering only your hometown.
Heck, I’ve sent off pro-candidate letters to many different newspapers, and even used completely different content (and my real residence!), and it didn’t take entirely too long.
Publish the IP address contained in her email header.

A few years back Dan Rather reported a falsified story about George Bush. A fellow freeper pointed out the obvious forgeries that the mainstream press ignored. The news media then violated that freeper’s privacy and hunted him down and exposed him.
Ellie Light has perpetrated a deliberate hoax on the nation. She should be hunted down and her identity exposed to the world.
Has she explained why she lied about her residence? Do most newspapers only publish letters to the editor from people within their readership? If so then she has committed a fraud—perhaps one that isn’t illegal but still a fraud.

Well .. I have never known an IP address to lie about who they were.
It is quite easy to trace the origin of emails, especially if you have more than one going out to several locations. If it does become difficult,that would prove her(him) to be much more sophisticated in disguising her true identity or imply that he/she got help from a high tech source eg NSA.

A letter from “Ellie Light” appeared this morning in Miami’s El Nuevo Herald. It was translated into Spanish!
I do not know if the letter(s) from this “person” have appeared in other Spanish-language newspapers, but it would seem that this puts the El Herald editors in rather an interesting position.

Well written. A person with more intelligence than I might be able to deduce clues as to Ms Lights birthplace or current residence throught her use of the vernacular. Certainly the pool of data points seems to be increasing all the time.
