A true conservative could never win in Massachusetts, so a moderate is indeed the most we could possibly hope for. Still, a moderate in Massachusetts is akin to a fire-breathing arch-conservative in, say, Texas, comparatively speaking.

I think we’ll find that Massachusetts has elected a senator who will match up nicely with Joe Lieberman’s views on many issues. He’ll be strong on defense, but is a moderately pro-choice big-government republican. Conservatives probably will grumble frequently in the future about his “betrayals”, but in reality, he will be much better than Coakley would have been. Remember, New England is the land of Lowell Weicker, Lincoln Chaffee, Susan Collins, Olympia Snow, Jumpin’ Jim Jeffords, and -— yes -— Mitt Romney, another pol whose conservative cred has often been suspect.

Absolutely right. In these parts, the piney woods of east Texas, he would not be considered a conservative. God Bless Texas, maybe now we won't have to secede.

Very well put!

Look at anyone who is tops in their trade, a mechanic or a plumber or an electrician, and examine their tools. They don’t have one for every job, but rather a collection of different tools. What makes them good at what they do is not only using the proper tool for the job, but knowing what tool is needed!

Seems to me it’s much the same with politics. You have to use the tool that’s right for the job. In this case that tool is Scott Brown. But that doesn’t mean the same tool would work in Alabama, or Ohio, etc.

I TOTALLY disagree. That is defeatism and a mindset that has already accepted mediocrity. CONSERVATISM when it is spoken from lips that are not ashamed is as powerful as a two edged sword.

Your statement is akin to those liberals that tried to make false arguements saying IRAQI’S can NEVER handle freedom, they are unable to do so in their (liberals)attempt to derail our efforts to free a people inder tyranny.

Massachusetts is not a group of “unqiue”
foreigners, any more than TX, FL or SD are. It is that too many are afraid of expressing core values of what they believe and are content in acceptance of something less to ease their mind.

That being said, I will hold all judgements on Senator Brown .... I don’t know for sure if he is a conservative or RINO. I don’t have enough data at this time. But time will tell quickly, actions do that. Until then I will keep my powder dry.

Oh ... Texas conservatives? I have seen the Bushes, Perry and K. Bailey Hutchinson ... TX may not be the best example of fire breathing conservatives.
