Cats must have seemed as sent by the gods. They did an essential job of rodent control with no training. They like to hang out with people. They don’t demand a lot. And there are always more of them in a couple months.

I love this picture of Serious Cat. Sometimes Miss Hissy Slashy (Bobbie) has this exact expression on her face, even though she is a basement cat and not serious at all.

That’s interesting regarding the death penalty for killing a cat. Reminds me of how cows are treated in India, still.

Anyway, what I’m wondering now is who killed the cats whose mummies had been found in tombs with (presumably) their owners’ mummified remains?

My son’s cat is now in the house. He’s an old and arthritic Maine Coon Cat. (notice the three capitals) He commands respect without having to do anything. Its been amazing to watch our dachshund and then our desert lynx can, both slightly bigger than Boris, fall into line. Scared of him. I don’t know what he’s telling them but they are totally buying it.

My friend who is a dog lover decided to get another Jack Russel for her dog. They rescued it from the pound....a purebred! Brought it home and the dog kept eating it’s poop and the other dogs poop. My friend said after she kept throwing up in the sink, they took it back.
