Women with blonde hair have the competitive edge, being more aggressive and determined than redheads and brunettes, say scientists.
Fair-haired women, whether natural or out of a bottle, display a warlike streak when fighting battles to get their own way, findings suggest.
The Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences work might explain why many leading women are blonde.
The University of California team studied 156 female students.
Blonde ambition
They found blondes were used to getting more attention and being treated better by others.
The researchers believe this sense of entitlement is what makes them more willing to "go to war" over an issue.
Lead researcher Aaron Sell said: "We expected blondes to feel more entitled than other young women - this is southern California, the natural habitat of the privileged blonde.
"What we did not expect to find was how much more warlike they are than their peers on campus....."

Hmmmmmm....not so sure about that. My g/f is all brunette, and can be very aggressive. And one of her favorite lines is: Blondes tease, brunettes please!
So they’re extrapolating from 156 coeds in Southern California to the general population. Great study design there, guys. I’m just sure your findings are valid, uh-huh.
(Full disclosure: natural blonde, quiet and non-aggressive, avoids confrontation and raised voices at all times, though I can be a little tart.)
Hmmm, don’t think it’s true. Blondes get attention without any effort at all, providing they aren’t homely looking.
Of course porcupines are very passive unless aroused and then... their 30,000 quills come into play.

You’re right! Oh my goodness, what was I thinking? But here in the US “tart” does not usually refer to a woman’s sexual behavior or style of grooming; it can mean a brisk, sharp way of speaking. My apologies!

I’ll bet they got a ‘grant’ to do this ridiculous, waste of time study.
Maybe McDonald’s could do its own study to determine which food items (or lack of) cause the most aggressive behavior in women.
