Good Lord, did she bother to ask the child how he felt about wearing pink? Nine will get you ten the freaked out father had already trained his brain about the color of pink and he would be uncomfortable in it.
Also take into consideration that OTHER children will have ideas about the color pink on males and children are notoriously cruel to each other at times. If money is a factor, yes, dye them navy or black and pick the flowerdy sew on’s off...problem solved.
I only had one of each gender six years apart, so hand-me-downs were out. They both got to pick out their own clothes because I was just set on the idea that THEY had to be comfortable in them, not me. I never dressed my daughter in fru fru pink in the first place...she hated it. To this day she doesn’t do fru fru. She and I must both be genetically wired for tailored and understated clothing.
You live in San Francisco. What could go wrong?
I would airbrush the outside red; it wouldn’t cost much and it would still be colorful out on the bunny slope. A black racing stripe might be fun. It would be okay for a girl, too. This is the last year the boy will have to worry about this one, at least.
Pink really is for girls, sorry guys.
LMAO!
And that is apparently why liberal men are such pantywaists. Their parents think it’s a bad thing to let them differentiate themselves from females, or to dress or behave according to their natural inclinations (every little boy I have ever known makes “guns” out of straws, branches, playdough, or if all else fails, their fingers!) My 4 and 6 year old nephews would pitch an almighty fit if my sister in law tried to put anything girlie on them. And rightly so! I personally would be embarassed to take my son out on the slopes in that sissy outfit - and even my 16 year old daughter would sooner ski in jeans, or even shorts, than wear that getup.
I agree with the husband. It would be cruel to dress a boy in that outfit.
I had a similar experinece when I was a child. Until I was about five, I had long hair; so it was obvious I was a girl, even though I was tomboy and hated to wear ruffles and dresses. Then my Mom got tired of taking care of my hair and imposed the awful “Dorothy Hamill” haircut on me. Now I was a tomboy who looked like a boy. Mom still insists that I looked cute, but I remember people addressing me as “little boy” and asking my parents “how old is he.” It bugs me to this day, and I still can’t stand Dorothy Hamill.
I'm going to the barf bag right now.
Unless their nick name is "the Bull Dog" and their last name is "Gambini."
Just sayin...
My 10 year old son, I joke with him that I will get him a pink outfit and he says, “no way !!!” and then I tell him, “good, I am glad you feel like that” - he is a normal boy ! I am already training him to be a homophobe as well. He has some interest in girls but not too much yet. He mentioned to me there is one boy who wears purple/pink outfit and he mentioned the kid is attracted not only to girls but also boys. I tell him that is wrong for the boy to be attracted to boys.
My husband must have been emotionally scarred by the incident because he tells this story often, and not to make people laugh, but as an example of child cruelty.
The husban's father and stepmom were cruel AND selfish, clueless and irresponsible people who punished a seven year old for their lapse in parental oversight.
Who leaves a seven year old to pack for himself without double checking it? They were cheap sob's too, who didn't want to rectify their mistake by buying him new trunks in Hawaii.
You bet the husband is scarred. He was hurt by a selfish lazy stepbitch who blamed him for her mistake and a stupid prick of a father who was more interested in keeping his new peice of ass happy, at his son's expense.
Now the author wants to keep this wound open by dressing up the son in big sisters hot pink pants in the name of frugalality and uber-hip feminist pop psychology.
**going to the snow***??? omg i’m roflmao i never heard of such a saying. i’m going to pass this around to fellow Vermonters
Yes, it was from some San Fran web site.
lmao...I thought the same thing.
Pink though, is for girls. :^)
Gay mafia.
That along with the "locked in a gender cage" statement told me pretty quickly what kind of a dimwit wrote this article.
Young children vacationing in Hawaii, ski-trips and trendy snow suits that will used once and outgrown.
Does this vacant, self-centered nitwit think anyone cares what color clothes her spoiled little monsters wear?
What drivel. Think about the good people out of work and this dingbat has a job.
Blech.
