Whether this article is true or not, the first line had me laughing out loud. Fly fishing was popular in Europe before America was a country. It has been a great American pass time from the founding fathers. Although A River Runs Through It was a great movie it sure didn’t “bring on” fly fishing.

Fly fishing is a sport that was made popular by the book and movie A River Runs Through It. So sayeth the MTV generation.
Nothing existed before them, and nothing will exist after they are gone.

Sounds like a great idea for those few that live near fly-fishing waters.

The sport of fly fishing took off in the 70s and 80s. The sport was de-mystified, the cast was changed to eliminate problems intoduced by previous elitests and the sport has bloomed.
