Can some of you experts tell me if the nutjob flew KLM from Lagos? The info I am finding is that there would have been a 26 hour layover in Amsterdam. however I am looking at forward info for Fridays....not the one from that day.
Not the cheapest flight route or the shortest flight route.
So why from Lagos and why the layover?
Maybe he took a different flight than KLM..I haven't seen a reference.
I heard it was because the Dutch wont allow armed air marshals on flights that take off from the Netherlands. Not sure it that is true.
doing a little more research:
ticket bought at KLM office in Accra on December 16
he would have had to leave on a Wednesday to get a Friday arrival date on NWA..the one way ticket I am finding has a 26 hour layover.
This WSJ report says that he boarded the Northwest/KLM flight in Lagos on Thursday and only had a “stopover” in Amsterdam.

NY Times claiming he was on KLM 588

Apparently, you can do it...with a 2 hour and 5o minute layover
You are changing planes but you are staying in the KLM area. You don’t have to be screened again.
for some reason, when looking up the flight..if you do KLM/NWA there is a 26 hour layover but if you do just KLM...you get a 3 hour layover
The 26 hour layover was apparently to give him time find his contact in Amsterdam and get his panties on.
To liberal anti-gun nuts explosive underwear is so much more innocuous than armed air marshalls.
