I’m pretty sure the Mustang was built on the Pinto platform for a while.

That is the fastback/hatchback Mustang II and it has a longer wheelbase than the Pinto. The front suspension is isolated from the chassis which also gives it a smoother ride. The notchback version really was ugly.
The hatchbacks made nice drag cars.
