(VANITY!) Seen The Photo of The Gas Sign Requiring Payment In Gold or Silver?

Posted on 12/12/2009 9:40:57 AM PST by WestwardHo

I've cruised the gold posts, not sure where I saw it, but if someone has the photo of the gas station sign posting gas price, sign said something like, "No cash, No credit, Gold or Silver only." I would sure like to have it. Thanks.

Ha! How about old silver, real currency for real poor people! I can see myself with one gold coin and a potatoe peeler.

I suppose that beats the one where the payment is in arms and legs.

Merchants may have to become huge pawn/consignment shops, as both the demand for hard payment in SOME kind of goods and services will be substituted for this Monopoly money they are printing out so quickly now, and the complete slackening off of any kind of real productive manufacture finally arrives in America.

Cap and trade will make it impossible for anybody in this country to forge simple tools like hammers. Not to even consider highly sophisticated machines.

“Under the table economies” right under our noses. The last frontier for American ingenuity.

A silver quarter ($0.25) will buy you a gallon of gas.

How is silver only currency for real poor people?

Just watching the price of gold over the last 10 days, in my situation, I don’t have enough money to afford the risk of a gold bubble, and just old enough that I’m not sure I could hold it long enough to be worth the risk.
The silver price is more steady, and a little easier to use for “small” transactions. There again, our intent is to hold it until we get really, really desperate.
During the early ‘70’s, under Carter, gas stations were posting the daily spot prices for gold and silver, and that’s how they were pricing gas.
Are no guarantees, and each of us has to work out what we think best.

Well bless your heart! That makes my day! Our coin dealer was surprised this was already happening! Grandma can now impress the Big Guy! Thank you, thank you!

If I recall, this is a picture from the Jimmy Carter days, not anything recent.

It's not happening. This is a Photoshop effort created two years ago at LeLetropoleCafe.com, a proprietary website for precious metals investors.

Repeat -- it's not real!

Not Carter. Photoshop. It's a wonderfully clever joke from LeMetropoleCafe.com.

Oh darn! Entrapped by my enthusiasm, or something! Ha! Look at the prices! Thank goodness, we are not there, yet!
Well, fun anyway! And still a big thank you for your help.
So much for impressing the Big Guy! Too funny.

Print it off, show it to him, and explain that we’re only a few years away from this picture becoming reality.

If I title it in all caps and use lots of exclamation marks, I can fool him? Of course I send it!

The company we went to is pretty high brow, I was expecting a glorified pawn shop, no way. I’m sure they are anticipating this.

About the same as in 1964!
