Graeme McDowell secured a place in the 2010 Masters with his second-placed finish at the Chevron World Challenge at Sherwood Country Club in California.
The Northern Ireland player moved up from 55th to 38th in the world rankings as a result of his performance.
"The boost up the world rankings is just huge for me," said McDowell.
"It's been a frustrating year and I've got nothing out of all the work I've put in. This gives me something back for all my hard work this year."
McDowell made the most of a late invitation to play in the event when tournament host Tiger Woods withdrew from the 18-man field.
He ended up as runner-up to Jim Furyk and sealed his place for the first major of the season at Augusta National next April in the process.
"This is a great golf tournament, it's a wonderful golf course and it's been a fun week," said McDowell.

Golf enthusiast ping... hehe.
Well, hot damn! That *is* magical.
Best wishes to him!!!!
How is this a Freep thread? And how does a non official money, 18 man invitational charity event count for world ranking points?
Are you always in an extremely bad mood, so bad you go way out of your way to be offended, Pilot Dave?
Being here less than a year qualifies you to determine what makes a thread or a tournament valid or not: Who knew?!
