I just checked my pay statement for next year. FITW increased 28.4%!!! Of course the gross pay did not increase at all. Therefore, net pay decreased.

I can now see the actual impact of the expiration of the Bush tax rates. Thank you Congress for the tax increase!!!

I thought they didn’t expire until end of 2010?

No shocker that the Democrats would raise taxes like this. They have to keep the welfare bums happy.

Are other folks checking, overloading the system?

I'm getting "myPay is experiencing temporary network problems and is unable to access your pay system at this time ..."

Here's another setback to retirement plans...

I wonder if the flat tax effort will get enough a boost from this?

They expire in 2010. That means that taxes due for 2010 will be more. The pay statement is for the first pay I receive in 2010 which is the end of January.

I’m sitting here dreaming that Freepers might have that much influence on the current U.S. political system - which I would NOT characterize positively as ‘robust’.

It increased to 28.4% or it increased by 28.4%? The latter is a huge raise.

The latter, increased BY 28.4% is the correct calculation.

"No shocker that the Democrats would raise taxes like this. They have to keep the welfare bums happy."

...and..

their six children by four fathers.
Section 8 land lords.
Legions of 'Benefit' staff, councilors, administrators.
Their land lords.
Quickie Mart owners everywhere.
The entire fraudulent disability industry, doctors, medical suppliers....millions of indirect money collectors that farm/graze off the welfare class.

......by four fathers....

Now, now.

If two of the four are brothers, the criticism must be halved. If there are two sets of brothers, there can be no criticism. It doesn’t matter if you don’t know the difference between your father and an uncle.

If you are critical, you are racist

I’m sitting here dreaming that Freepers might have that much influence on the current U.S. political system

Recently, we had a school election, which had a proposed property tax millage increase of 25%, to build a new high school.

The liberals say "but it only means an increase of $240 a year on the average homeowner. Well that may be true. But, it will increase everything. I.E. Commercial property being appraised much higher than private property would mean less jobs as the small business owners decrease their payrolls to make up for the increased taxes.

I mentioned this to a local scnool board memeber who was about my age (50ish). "But you and I won't have to pay for it." I walked away as further conversation would be fruitless.

Fortunately, their are enough Freepers and sympathizers here that wrote letters to the editor, etc. to denounce this horrendous increase. The proposal was defeated 2to1. :)

Just adjust the number of dependants. File an updated W-4 with your employer.

If you pay atterntion, you should be able to go the whole year and end up not getting a “tax return”. Unless, of course, you like giving the Gov’t an interest free loan.

Best scenereo is you owing the IRS a few bucks every year, just keep it below the level that triggers penalties.
