Protesters Chastise Vallejo Mayor Over Gay Remarks
The Associated Press Dec. 2, 2009
VALLEJO, Calif. -- Vallejo's mayor is under fire from demonstrators who gathered on the steps of City Hall to protest his remarks that gays will not go to heaven.
Dozens of protesters waved rainbow flags and held signs demanding separation of church and state before Tuesday's city council meeting. Some called for Mayor Osby Davis' resignation.
The evangelical mayor told The New York Times last month that gays are "committing sin and that sin will keep them out of heaven." He later apologized, saying his remarks were taken out of context.

He’s got a point.
Tell me again why they are protesting? Are they unaware of the irony?
“Gays Don’t Go To Heaven”
they would hate it anyway...doesn’t need any decorating and everyone’s hair is perfect...
Gays, do go to heaven, but are no longer gay. In fact they can be gay up to the moment before their death and if they repent (and true repentance would mean that they reject their homosexuality as the sin that it is).
So you can’t even tell the truth in public anymore? This is getting like Canada.
Someone needs to tell them that even mayors have freedom of religion in this country.
I thought these were atheists who don’t believe in Heaven any way, why do they care if anyone thinks they aren’t going to some non-existent place.
Well, at least we know that “all dogs go to heaven.”
“The evangelical mayor told The New York Times last month that gays are “committing sin and that sin will keep them out of heaven.” He later apologized, saying his remarks were taken out of context.”
What he meant was “Gays will spend eternity burning in Hell”.
> He later apologized, saying his remarks were taken out of context.
Nope. His remarks were perfectly contexted. He ought not apologize because gays will not go to heaven if they persist in sinful behavior.
