I think we need to meet as conservatives to get ideas on how to save our beautiful state. It was going well until Blago took over in 2002.
I'm thinking January 9th. Downtown Chicago.
*ping*
A week later would work better for me. Must it be downtown Chicago? Parking is miserable. Last time I tried to go to one of these we picked a downtown place (The Berghoff) that was swamped because they were closing in a few weeks.
Piece Restaurant on North Ave. (Route 64) has the best pizza in the city. There’s always one of the many Harold’s Chicken Shacks. Or one of Barack’s old hangouts, Valois Cafeteria in Hyde Park. If I am going to go all the way to Chicago, I want to make it worth my while.
You’ll need to do an Illinois Ping. Here are the Freepers from Illinois. Most are from the Chicago suburbs.

I’d vote for Harolds. Best damn fried chicken in the city.

We need to get a rough idea of how many people are going to be there. Then we can pick a place. I recommend South Suburbs such as Joliet. People from downstate can get there fairly quickly via I-80, I-55 and I-57 (although I doubt we will get many people to make the six-hour drive from the Effingham/Carbondale area). Chicago area people can also get there quickly, and there will be plenty of venues with plenty of free parking.
I was honestly suggesting Chicago area because I won’t be able to drive until February due to leg problems. I live in Park Ridge so I’m kind of restricted to public transit or a taxi and to the area.
But I’m open to all suggestions.
Can someone help me ping. I’m unsure on the process.
On an Illinoisan topic who bets a million bucks if Fitzgerald starts seriously digging into Obama’s best buddy Daley, Obama will find a way to get rid of him? I still think stuff will hit the fan when Blago goes to trial, at least with Emmanuel.
Can a President be impeached for activities before he became President?
And can we find and kick the butt of whomever talked Edgar out of running for Senate in 04? He would have beaten Obama.
I love that a Reagan link is associated with this. He is my all time hero. My first political involvement was stuffing envelopes in my grandparent’s living room in 1976 when in retrospect it was good he wasn’t the nominee because a republican was not going to win no matter who it was and it might have ruined him long term or done bad damage.
I’m the executive director of the Illinois Center Right Coalition, a group that was founded in 2003, to encourage Illinois conservatives to cooperate, to: recruit conservative candidates, endorse them, donate to them, and find volunteers for them. The steering committee has included John Cox, Jim Oberweis, Pat O’Malley, Jon Zahm, Mike Psak, Jeff Sykuta, and Bill Leubscher. Please read our site, www.illinoiscenterright.com.
The ICRC will hold meetings, on Dec. 5 and Jan. 2, at 5:00, at Aurelios Pizza, at 14421 U.S. Rte. 30, in Plainfield. For $9.95, you can get all of the pizza and soft drinks that you want. Please attend, join the ICRC, and encourage others to do so. I hope that the ICRC will affect the 2010 primaries.
Sure.
And can we find and kick the butt of whomever talked Edgar out of running for Senate in 04? He would have beaten Obama.
That would be Edgar himself. He didn't want to run. I you want to kick someone's ass over the 2004 Senate race start with the combiner scum Ray LaHood and Andy McKenna who drove Fitzgerald out of the race and then threw Jack Ryan under the bus. LaHood is enjoying his reward of a Cabinet position in Washington and McKenna of course is running for Governor.
To answer all of your questions with one post.
Jim Edgar has a serious heart condition. He really doesn’t have the energy to go 16 hours a day, seven days a week for a campaign. Besides that, he can’t handle the stress. Let him enjoy a long and healthy retirement with his family.
We should have stuck with Jack Ryan in 2004. I was working on his campaign. We can blame the Ray Lahoods and Judy Topinkas of the party (as well as the Chicago Tribune, the allegedly “conservative” paper that endorsed Barack Obama for every race he’s ever been in) for chasing him out of the race. He could have won.
Bob, we can’t relocate the meeting based on one attendee’s needs. I’m sure we can arrange a carpool.
Phil, I really like the idea of attending the January 2 meeting of the ICRC.
If anyone lives near Park Ridge and can give me a lift I’d gladly chip in for gas.
I could give you a lift. We should talk further on that via Freepmail.
You really, really need to ping all the Illinois Freepers to get more people there. The link I posted above goes to the Illinois Freepers list. I am sending instructions via Freepmail on how to convert it into a ping list. Watch your Freepmail.
In which town do you live? I live in Northfield, and I want to form the Republican Assembly of Northern Cook Co., a club for conservatives who live in the northern half of that county.
I like that idea.
I want to make sure if nothing else Todd Stroger is not reelected. I actually have had democrats suggest if the republican races are wrapped up getting republicans to switch sides in the primaries to vote for other people.
I don’t know if nationally people realize that outside of Cook County, Illinois is quite red.
Being in Park Ridge, I get a lot of Hillary comments. I’ve been told I should be proud and excited to be from her hometown. I think it’s interesting and my parents knew her parents and I probably met her when I was a small child but hardly something that I find exciting.
It kills me to admit it though but if it had to be her or OBama, I wish it was her in the oval office. I think she’d be doing the same things as he has done in healthcare and the economy but I don’t think we’d see terror trials in New York City.
That’s why I held my nose and voted for McCain last November. I think he would have handled the war much better.
Working on the ping list for Illinois. Will try and have it done by tomorrow if not over the weekend.
Looking forward to any gathering and meeting new FRiends.
