In the end, it was "Over the Rainbow" that made Eva Cassidy a star, but it didn't happen until five years after her death in 1993.

There are so many wonderful songs on her “Songbird” album. I’ve recommend it to people & bought it as gifts for yrs.
Like Vincent Van Gogh, the world did not appreciate or discover Eva Cassidy’s music until she died ( too young ).
Her version of SOMEWHERE OVER THE RAINBOW is one for the ages. I thought nobody could do better than Judy Garland until I heard her haunting version.
Songbird is absolutely beautiful. So tragic she passed at such a young age. A talent lost (almost) as we DO have her Songbird Album.
ME TOO!! Love that album..first heard of her when Kristi Yamaguchi used her version of FIELDS OF GOLD in some ice dancing exhibition and fell in love with it. Then I heard her story...Taken too young...
Been a big fan of hers for years and I have turned on a LOT of people to this amazing woman who died way too young.
Thank you for sharing this. I had never heard of Eva Cassidy until this evening. I will remember her beauty for
months and years to come.

Her “Fields of Gold” is wonderful.
And I can’t listen to “I know you by Heart” without tears in my eyes.
Check her out singing fields of gold time after time. This amazing woman could sing the phone book....

However, her masterpiece album was "Live at Blues Alley"...and VERY HIGHLY recommended! A superb version of "Fields of Gold", "Stormy Monday" & an absolute treasure in "Tall Trees in Georgia"...and so many more!
Me too!!! what a beautiful voice she had. She died too.tooyoung.
See my post #5....weirdly similar!
Thank you. I had not heard of her before. Beautifully done rendition.
YouTube has several of her Blues Alley performances
