Here is video of retired Col. Jack Galligan, who has agreed to serve as the attorney for Fort Hood terror attacker Nidal Malik Hasan.

Galligan said he has talked with Hasan for about 30 minutes so far, and that Hasan's condition is still "guarded."

Galligan said he counts it a privilege to represent "every soldier that walks in his office." He said in reference to his decision to defend Hasan or any solider, that he is proud to "defend those who defend us."

Col. Galligan said Hasan is entitiled to a fair trial and "the presumption of innocence." . . . (VIDEO)

he is proud to "defend those who defend us."

So... when exactly did Hasan defend us?

Too bad the terrorist lived, as the good Colonel’s services would not have been required.

Presumption of innocence my ass. I’m sick and tired of hearing this terrorist S.O.B. referred to as a suspect or alleged anything. There are dozens of eye witnesses who saw this P.O.S. shooting unarmed men and women. Dozens! He’s a terrorist P.O.S. and his defense attorney is a jackass.

I guess this is lawyer spin - they’re job is to always cast their client in a favorable light.

However, in a non-insane world he would say something to the effect that our system of justice requires that every accused have their day in court and be afforded legal counsel and therefore he’s proud to be a part of that system.

There is the presumption of innocence, Colonel, but that doesn’t mean its necessary to say something stupid.

Gee, yet another lawyer reveals himself to be a prostitute. What a surprise.

I wouldn’t expect him to say anything else. If he did it would automatically be grounds for a mistrial.

It is the JAG’s duty in this case to defend the client to the best of his ability. If he holds back at all, justice will not be done. So lets not demonize the JAG officer. He’s just doing his job.

My thoughts exactly when I read that part. I don’t recall seeing Hasan do anything to defend us.

The left and that includes the Bar Association and the ACLU is soft on crime, soft on terrorism.

Always were, always will be.

The NYSlimes and other print media join their ranks.

He’s his attorney period. That’s his job and his duty. Maybe the judge in the case should announce he wants to kill the defendant?

Get real people there is a system out there and it is childish to run down the guy’s lawyer for doing his job in that system.

If he’s as guilty as we all believe, is it going to hurt anyone that his own lawyer doesn’t denounce his client?

Thank you. I know a military officer who is so conservative he would make 99% of Freepers blush. Considers dancing sinful. He was put in JAG and did his duty well for his clients. Period. That’s how it works.

Is it any coincidence prostitutes and lawyers generally require the same compensation?

Thinking about the other side of this, for the sake of justice, Hasan’s attorney must at least give the appearance of ‘giving his all’ in the defense so they can’t come back and try to claim attorney misconduct to try to get any conviction overturned.

Bingo, this attorney is doing his job, we may not like it (hell he may not like it) but anything this attorney says will “decide” if this terrorist received a fair trial. If he says his client is a a-hole expect a mistrial and for this process to start all over. A fair trail with mean Hasan gets the needle quicker.
