Good point and it isn’t just elk, it’s deer and moose.

The AR nuts pick up on the protection of predators and seem to take the position that game animals are there for them and human hunters should take a hike.

I suppose it gives them a cause to fight for and a way for them to raise huge sums of money from the vast number of city dwellers. For the majority of these people a wilderness experience is watching one of the animal shows on TV that show predators as beautiful cuddly animals. The shows that don’t film those predators killing other animals and starting to eat them while the prey is still alive.
