Listened to Bush Sr.
Gave lots of credit to others, but there was a stark omission of Reagan.
No Credit for Reagan???
The Bushes are not conservatives. They are country club RINOS who are able to sometimes masquerade as conservatives.
If it wasn’t for Reagan, Bush 41 and 43 would be unknowns.
He pisses me off, did someone tell this guy that Reagan is dead?
He needs to stop holding a grudge against the dead guy.
Can’t think of anything good to say about Bush, so i won’t say anything...
The Bush family needs to admit that there’s not a conservative bone in any of their bodies. They’re the epitome of the wishy-washy RINOS in the squishy middle trying to be appeasers and they don’t even realize that there’s nothing in the world that’ll make the Left stop vilifying them.
Reagan was more of a man than all of the Bush males put together. I met W’s nephew one time at an event and he seemed like an empty suit being groomed for a life in politics. Nothing real about him at all. No core.
Reagan had a core. Reagan had beliefs and principles. Voting for him in 1984 was my proudest moment ever in electoral politics.
There’s not enough context in this post to mete out such strong statements...
Did everybody posting hear the interview? What exactly did he not say so strongly? I didn’t hear it and there’s not much to go on here.
He was my first vote as an adult and I had the honor of serving under him in the Army 2 months after I voted for him. My best vote ever, wow I miss him these days.
Pres. Reagan knew 30 years ago what the Bush zombies just recently figured out...
The point is what you didn’t hear.
He went through a long list of those responsible for contributing to the collaspe of the Soviet Union and the Removal of the Wall.
His list was made up mostly of East Germans and Soviet Officials with a few people from his own state department.
James Baker had heaps of praise from Bush Sr. Nothing for Reagan, not even a mention in the entire interview.
Are you going to post the video? Or are we just supposed to take your word for it that the interview went off exactly as you said.
As the Man himself would say, trust but verify. Could we at least see a transcript before the trash talk?
Amen
I didn’t see it, but find it hard to believe any sane person wouldn’t acknowledge it. Maybe Bush41 thought it was obvious? Reagan was the reason the Berlin Wall fell.
No one said Reagan was perfect.
I am sure it will be posted here, watch tomorrow http://www.foxnews.com/ontherecord/index.html
It will be posted here http://www.foxnews.com/ontherecord/index.html
They don’t post them on the same day.
They just posted pt1 of the interview http://www.foxnews.com/ontherecord/index.html#
Thank you. I will check it out.
“The point is what you didnt hear.”
No, the point is THAT is my point... it’s real hard to get worked up about something you don’t hear, can’t see and can’t read. Everybody’s posting but until you replied here I didn’t see any specifics. Posts are useless without some specific explanation, quotes or at the very least a link.
That being said, the Bush’s have had much to be proud of and much to be ashamed of.
A little annoying not having quotes, links or at least direct information. Not sure what good a post is without it. Heck... even most blogs have a little something to go on.
Read the thread, they hadn’t posted the video till this was already posted.
Freepers are faster than the networks posting videos and transcripts.
They just posted pt1 of the interview http://www.foxnews.com/ontherecord/index.html#
I hear you. That’s why I don’t start threads. Strictly a poster and I ever shall be.
Gracias...
That’s better.
Remember Bush accusing Reagan of "voodoo economics"?
Fun fact: In the 1960's George H. W. Bush introduced the first bill in the House to federally fund abortion. He, along with his good buddy Democrat Walter Mondale, used to push for what they referred to as "therapeutic population control".
Bush Sr always had such a grudge against the guy. When Reagan got shot, I was telling everyone it was Bush that hired the trigger man (as a joke of course)
I’m a wannabe blogger (www.fracturedrepublic.com) so, in turn I’m an armchair quarterback. You know how that goes...
The fact is Bush Sr was a one termer
Reagan was not only a two-termer, but won his second term with 49 out of 50 states.
I doubt we will see that kind of win for a long while.
I like Pres. Bush, Sr., but I about gagged when he picked Gorbachev and missed Reagan. He always was too affectionate towards the old commie and never liked to talk about the Reagan years. He famously complained that his job was attending funerals, and Reagan did basically shelve him, for good or for ill. I’ve always wondered if this created some resentment.
Did he manage to find a way to give Bill Clinton credit for the fall of the Berlin Wall? It wouldn’t surprise me.
Bush named GORBACHEV! GORBACHEV as the big hero.
I couldn't stand to listen to Bush, when he was President and I still can't stand to listen to him. He was Reagan's VP for 8 years and learned NOTHING!
Naming Bush to VP was Reagan's first decision and his worst mistake. We're still paying for that mistake.
It was always a marriage of convenience. Reagan was basically trying to satisfy the party guard. The same fools that choose the turn coat in NY23.
This is the reverse that happened when McCain chose Palin. This would be like Palin choosing McCain to make the party feel better.
Bush knew it, and resented it.
Outside of this, President Reagan was one of America's best leaders....
His horse had more class than these guys.
I agree, you could see the wheels turning behind his eyes. He thought about what he was doing as he was doing it.
He so much wants to rewrite history.
He used to talk about the New World Order a lot. Did he mention it in this interview?
I think he has more in common with Obama than he does with Reagan.
Ronald Reagan, Maggie Thatcher and Pope John Paul... the liberators of hundreds of millions.
He didn’t say his name, period.
And he did talk about the roles of people before the wall came down and not just at the actual time.
Tell me where in this video the word Reagan was uttered from his tortured bitter lips?
Try again.
Likely true.
Biggest injustice of the Reagan Admin was the failure to put Bush Sr. in a pine box for long term storage.
“Gave lots of credit to others, but there was a stark omission of Reagan.”
Initially I was bothered by this.
I have to admit my personal expectation was to hear him give praise,
honor and glory to the triumvirate:
Reagan, Thatcher, and John Paul II.
But reflecting on the interview...it did seem to be more about the
“end game” and how the actors on the scene at that time didn’t
“screw up” the terrain as prepared by Reagan, Thatcher and JP II.
But I must admit as a person that is old enough to remember the
building of “The Wall”...and young enough to be around for the fall
of The Berlin Wall...
I was at first bothered not to hear a mention of Reagan.
Call me too kind, but I chalk it up to the format and actual questions
of the interview...plus Papa Bush did enough heavy lifting to keep
us out of nuclear war at a crucial juncture.
(and yes, I don’t agree with all of Papa Bush’s actions, especially
folding on the “no new taxes” pledge and some other mis-steps)
I don’t buy it, look at him pause and think, hesitate and phrase.
It was purposeful, he is a bitter bitter man.
Oh, by the way, this isn’t the first time he has pulled this stunt before.
He has done these at least three times before.
After the last time he was thumped for this, I am surprised he did it again.
I bet there are threads still on FreeRepublic from the last time he did it.
Blue-bloods are usually bad for America.
Reagan was forced to take him.
Daddy bush is a globalist. That is why he did not ring true with the American people and why he hated Reagan. It is why his sort hate Palin. Reagan was an American-American and did not do as he was told by the globalists. Palin won’t obey either.
could be the pause was just a senior moment...I get them alot.:O)
