I’m not even sure what Gore Vidal’s original claim to fame was.



He died an old brokenhearted homosexual on a beach in Italy, his hair dye and makeup running down his face under the sweltering Venice sun..........oh wait that was actor Dirk Bogarde in Death in Venice. Never mind. My bad.

(Actually, I vaguely remember reading somewhere that he's related to Al Gore!)
