Posted on 10/10/2009 9:44:14 AM PDT by hole_n_one
With the series between the Rockies and Phillies tied at a game apiece, Game 3 has been rescheduled for Sunday at 8:07 p.m. MT. Game 4 has been moved to Monday, with game time to be announced prior to the start of Sunday's contest.
Snow began falling Friday night in the Denver metro area as the temperature dropped to 17 degrees in the Mile High City overnight, breaking the record low of 25 for the date, set in 1905. Coors Field was blanketed in snow by Saturday morning, and the white stuff was expected to keep coming down into the day, predicted to dissipate by the 7:37 p.m. game time. Since Coors Field is the only field in the Majors with an underground heating system, the snow might have been cleared away.
The cold is another matter, though.

If we can only pass Cap & Tax, we will solve this horrible Glow-bull Worming problem that will otherwise kill us all....
Al Gore is a baseball fan? That’s the only explanation for the weather.
I guess it’s more evidence of “global warming”.
Would have been interesting to see bundled up fans, etc. in a sign of “global warming”. “We see Pedro Martinez blowing on his hands to keep warm; the umpires have said that’s okay due to the cold temperatures”. Anyone have an idea on the coldest it’s ever been during an MLB game?
The first Toronto Blue Jays game ever, held at the old
Exhibition Stadium, had some snow falling...
Obviously Algore is a baseball fan
Oh the weather outside is frightful
But the fire is so delightful
So since we’ve no place to go...
And Colorado (that's the team) sucks causing low pressure to build up dropping the temperatures. This is what makes blue state so blue, they are cold.
I have better stop trying to
think use words like a lefty it is hurting my head.
North Platte, NE has a foot of snow on the ground......and what month is this? Just a tad early for this nonsense!
You're just not keeping up with the latest scientific development consensus ... See, Global Warming™ leads to Climate Change™ which leads to Global Cooling™
Got it ???
More Cash For Clunkers is needed to get CO2 up! Except this time the money can only be used to buy behemoth Expeditions, Suburbans, Yukons and Excursions. No more econoboxes!
Baseball season is too long. World Series should start on Labor Day weekend.
Shorter season, fewer games? The owners and players wouldn’t stand for it (well maybe if they got same amount of money somehow they would but some teams really need those 162 games, even if they don’t make playoffs, to make $$)
We have to pass a cap and trade bill to keep it from getting colder or is it hotter? Oh well, at lest we’ll have a new tax to try and stop all of these delayed games.
Just another reason why baseball sucks compared to football. In football, we call this great game weather! More reasons: http://m.youtube.com/watch?desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3Dom_yq4L3M_I&v=om_yq4L3M_I
what a wussy sport, called for a little snow and cold. Dye the balls orange and game on!
I live in the mountains just west of Denver. It is snowing now and the overnight low was 7F!
Oh boy, adds to the suspense. The only game today will be Dodgers vs. Cards. Go Blue:)
It’s all due to expansion. I’m a huge fan but also realize the season has gotten way too long.
There is a proposal to start season earlier. But I think they need to shorten the playoffs to include 2 wild card teams in each league to one game series, then back to best of 5 playoffs, then best of 7 for world series.
The Dodgers just shortened the season by sweeping the Cards. LOL. Pujols could do nothing vs. the Blue.
