Not to defend anything about SF... but I travel there frequently on business. If you think about it a little... San Francisco is actually a very good city to be a heterosexual male.

But are there any heterosexual women there? I lived three years in Berkeley and it was really pretty bleak in terms of finding normal women that you would want to spend any time with.
