In the shadow of the fallen Old Man of the Mountain in Franconia, N.H., on a lonely stretch of mountain road, two men lay dead. A spasm of violence that took only a few minutes to play out leaves a community divided and searching for answers.
Casey Shermans Bad Blood: Freedom and Death in the White Mountains (University Press of New England), just published, is an exhaustive account of the longstanding feud between Franconia police officer Bruce McKay, 48, and Liko Kenney, 24, the two dead men.
In May 2007, Kenney shot and killed McKay after a harrowing chase that began with a routine traffic stop. Kenney, a cousin of local ski legend Bode Miller, was then shot and killed by Greg Floyd, an ex-Marine who was passing by the scene. A fourth man at the scene, Caleb Macaulay, who was riding with Kenney in his 1984 Toyota Celica, survived to become the sole witness.
What looked to be a cut-and-dried murder case, complete with heroic third party exacting immediate justice on a cop killer, proved to be far more complex. Sherman, a veteran Massachusetts investigative reporter and author of The Hunt for the Real Boston Strangler, labors hard to uncover the back story of the principal players and provide a riveting yet neutral account of the sensational slayings.
In the end, it is for readers to decide how they would have acted in the place of the four men at the center of Bad Blood.

I remember details about this cop harassing the guy who killed him for a long time. I’m glad this guy researched the incident and wrote a book about it.
Pitiful. Its like each participant is an actor from a different play.
It promises to be a pretty good movie.
A semiauto with a cylinder? What will they think of next!
Interesting, How did he “kill(ed) him for a long time”?
Sorry it was too good to pass up.
So a pathetic piece of filth tries to paint a cop-killer as a victim and a former marine hero as a crazed vigilante. That’s not news. That’s exactly what I would expect from vermin who hate America. This “book” is nothing more than a pathetic attempt to paint a criminal in a positive light.
This is full of liberal talking points, "Crazed, out of control cop" and "Ex-Marine psycho made crazy by war". This is just MO, but I believe it to be a correct assessment.
BTW: Leftists worship this Casey Sherman character. They are planning on using this book as a way to attack Kelly Ayotte in her Senate run in NH.
