From the NSIDC, Sea ice reaches its annual minimum extent growing by 370,000 square miles over 2007. An area 1 1/2 times the size of Texas. The recovery is 220,000 sq miles above last year alone yet the NSIDC claims below that the scientists dont consider this a recovery.
They cite younger thinner ice again and a lower level than the 30 year mean as the reasons this is not a recovery. I have difficulty ignoring a near 400,000 sq mile increase in ice level. So I hope they dont mind if I do consider it at least a partial recovery.
From a post on CA SteveM posted a graph from the NSIDCs compiled 2008 projections of sea ice by the different experts in the field. Since 2008 minimum is clearly marked and 220,000 sq miles is equal to 570,000 sq kilometers of increase. We can determine where on the NSIDC graph the actual Arctic sea ice turned out.
All I can say is, be glad youre not an expert on sea ice. The linear trend is actually closer than the majority of the experts.
Green line is actual.
The MSM doesn’t report on things that disagree with their preconceived notions ... the definition of narrow minded.
Al Gore, I spit in your general direction.
If the same thing were happening with the economy the “experts” would be gushing at the astonishing growth exceeding their expectations. Instead we are told that the growth isn’t real and what looks like a recovery is really just more bad news. Meanwhile the polar bears are complaining that the beachfront property they got suckered into is now miles from the shore.
What’s the green horizontal bar?
never mind. Just found it.

I’d say two more years of sea ice minimum growth and the algore quacks will be done for.

Agreed. I’m pretty slow to “pull the trigger” on things like this that are statistical, so I’ve not yet pulled out the data and shoved it in front of the pusses of the many many many folks that I’ve discussed these things with over the last 12-15 years... I’m also very interested in the ocean temperature and sea level trendings.
Believe me... there is a long list of those people, and if things continue this way for 2 more years, I am going to have so much fun with payback! I am happy to say that at least half of them will easily agree that I was right, and give me great kudos for my research. However, there are a few that I will have even more fun with as I watch them writhe in their misery and excuses and hopes that they (or I) don’t die before it gets warmer.
Don’t cheer up just yet, an hour and a half ago the federal appeals court dropped a CO2 bombshell:
