Random drug testing for Universal Healthcare public option recipients / misc. thought

Discussions on Welfare reform often included the proposal of random drug testing for the recipients. That language could also be included in the Health Care Reform Bill for those who accept the public option. Why should a tax payer be forced to pay for people who voluntarily wish to damage themselves and burden society with the costs? This question should be brought in the current discussion. The support from the left would die very quickly if that language were to be adopted. It also may force Pelosi to not include the public option in the bill.

Me thinks there should be random drug testing of each member of Congress along with sobriety checkpoints at the doors to the Senate and House chambers.

Can’t pass the test, they don’t get to vote on any legislation. Works for me.

If random drug tests are good enough for the average citizen, they're good enough for our Congresscritters.

More than that, any new health-care bill ought to be tested on the Congress that passed it, for about 12 years, so we can all see what a success it is!

My outlook has always been that Congress, legislators, elected officials, cops, judges, DAs and anyone sworn to an oath should face a much higher standard of behavior that the average schmucks that pay for their services.

Any public servant found using drugs or guilty of corruption should be treated as a three striker, and face loss of all accumulated pensions and a 10 year minimum sentence.

The Florida Governor issued an order on drug testing state workers but eliminated himself and legislators and justice officials. That’s BS.
