Amateur is right. The cardinal rule of portrait photography is never to use a wide angle lens and stick it close to the subject’s face, which results in distorted features. The vast majority of ‘cell phone self portraits’ posted on the web are like this, including this one. The right way to shoot portraits (other than with good lighting) is stand back, as far back as possible, and zoom in to the subject’s face.

I don’t think poor Bo did any choosing at all. He was simply available.

Who in their right mind, would criticize a picture of a dog so vigorously?

A photo editor, perhaps.

You may have answered your own question with the..."who in their right mind," part.

I suspect, the first Mutt will be banned from making appearances. He gets too much attention. Narcissistic character tendencies will be dealt with quietly and swiftly. There is only room for one under the spotlight of glory and admiration.

It's definitely a cute puppy.

And, you're right with black dogs/cats/whatever are hard to get a good exposure and depth of field. That's why professional photographers get paid well for a good portrait.

I always have to laugh when I hear that dog’s name—who names a dog after himself!

Thank you. I resemble that remark.

I believe that every person, no matter how mean his character, should have something that loves him unconditionally. The Obama kids have Bo. Their daddy has the main stream Media.

I like to fill the pic with the dog, especially the face if there's no action going on. Of course I'm not a pro (but I get a lot of people around here who call me to come take shots of their dogs). Powder Puff

For consistency, why couldn’t they have photographed the dog in Air Force One over New York?

It does look ‘shopped. I tried to find a comparable pic of Barney, but I didn’t see any “posed” pictures; they all seemed to be of the “candid” type.

Does Bo know what happened to the fly???? Might want to steer clear of Barry ‘The Swatter’ Soetero.

Was there ever a fly?

Consider that the swimmer named his dog ‘Splash’.

There is something very sick about these people.

Kennedy and Soetero.
