Two important numbers for the Los Angeles Lakers: 27 and 30.
Twenty seven was their margin of victory, winning 119 to 92 in Denver. The other number - 30 - is the number of appearances they will have made as a result of winning this game.
A possible turning point in the game, during which the home Nuggets rarely led: with 8:55 in the 3rd quarter, the Lakers committed their fifth team foul, allowing the Nuggets to shoot free throws for every subsequent foul.
There was only one subsequent Laker team foul in that quarter, and that was five game minutes later.
The Finals will not start until Thursday, June 4, regardless of the result of tomorrow's Game 6 in the Eastern Conference. One thing that tomorrow's game may decide, is WHERE the Lakers open the Finals.
If Orlando closes out the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Magic will travel to Los Angeles. If the Cavs win the series in seven games, they would host the Lakers, as Cleveland finished one game better than the Lakers in the regular season.
Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals is Saturday night from Orlando at 8:30PM EDT, on TNT.
Now on to Orlando?
no. of appearances what or where? what is the 30 for?
Our state may be sliding into the mother of all insolvencies and the ground is jiggling like jell-o, but SoCal has the Lakers and that’s good enough for a few hours.
We’ll see. Orlando has not been in this position for a long time, and even then they had a big post presence in Shaq. If the 3s are falling, and they play smart, Orlando could close it out.
Cleveland, on the other hand, has been there, and has been close, with this same team, within the last three or four years. They know how to get there, even though they were swept in the Finals and just missed beating the Celtics last year in the playoffs.
Bottom line, I can’t pick it. I thought that the Lakers would somehow lay down and send it to seven on Sunday, and they kicked the Nuggets’ ass. If Orlando is smart, they’ll put Cleveland down, celebrate with their fans, and get a few days’ rest before flying out to L.A. The truth is, only two teams swept the Lakers this season, Charlotte and the Magic. And the Lakers still can’t guard the three point shot...and that’s all the Magic shoot.
And if the Lakers pizz around and lose one at home...like they did in the first two rounds...they may not GET back home.
Gotta admit, it would be quite a show to see the Kobe & Labron show. But I think Cleveland lacks the strength to get them there. We’ll see.
My bad...30 Finals appearances for the Lakers...including 8 in the 80s, 1 in the 90s, and the 6th this decade.
So that makes 12 appearances under Republican Presidents, and 3 with a Democrat in the office. (had to throw that in)
By the way, I can’t wait to see that tub of lard, Charles Blob-kley, on tomorrow night’s TNT broadcast...he, of course, picked the Nuggets to beat the Lakers before the Lakers even qualified to play the Nuggets...bastard...
Kobe always closes. That’s why I hate him.
It reminds me of when ABC had OJ Simpson on Monday Night Football.
AWESOME GAME. Lamar showed up, and Kobe is always Kobe, simply the best. The Western Conference trophy meant NOTHING..we want the REAL DEAL and I hope we get it. I have been waiting 5 years for another parade outside of Staples Center. I think we will probably play Orlando, unless the refs fix it so that the Cavs go to a Game 7
Hey Cuda!!!
I’ll be honest with you, the one thing that gave me hope when the Lakers lost game 2...the nuggets started acting like they already won the series...i had a feeling the guys would take...ahem...exception to that.
Guess they did!
>>Gotta admit, it would be quite a show to see the Kobe & Labron show. But I think Cleveland lacks the strength to get them there. Well see.
Check the officiating today — the NBA wants Kobe vs. Lebraun
Exactly, the Magic definately want to have a nice lead going into the final minute tonight.

Final minute, heck. They better have an insurmountable lead going into the 4th quarter!
Well, it will be fun to sit back in the knowledge that MY team is in — and solidly so.
