does it say anything about a golden salamander?
Why is there suddenly so much Mormon propaganda and Hollywood gossip on freerepublic?
I don’t know.
Was it on his butt?
The term ‘objective’ seems to be alien to these ‘dsicovereis’ and the ‘explanations’ of these ‘revelations’. The purveyors of mormonism are writing the historical record they want ... that isn’t objective truth, it’s support for an ism.
Whenever mere men or organizations presume to be the authority over the Scriptures, where it be Pope or “Living prophet”, then both the souls as well as the bodies of men are in danger, as everything from the Inquisitions to the Utah war evidence. As for these finds, they should lethttp://www.utlm.org/navtopicalindex.htm Jay and Sandra at them.

Salamander: The Story of the Mormon Forgery Murders
http://www.amazon.com/Salamander-Story-Mormon-Forgery-Murders/dp/0941214877
Mark Hofmann, 32, pled guilty to two bombing murders in Salt Lake City in 1985, a case that made national headlines. Apparently a successful rare documents collector and church-going family man, Hofmann was really a skillful forger and con artist. A third bomb accidentally exploded in his car, sending Hofmann to the hospital and his undoing. Many of his forgeries cast doubt on traditional views of early Mormonism and were potentially embarrassing to church leaders who purchased them. The leaders were in contact with Hofmann just prior to the murders, which were an attempt to prevent discovery and financial ruin. Hofmann killed an associate and, to divert suspicion, a stranger.
There is much, but i forgot that Jerald has since gone to glory.
Their work is relevant to the next post,
Jerald and Sandra Tanner (Salt Lake City residents who left the Mormon church after coming to doubt the legitimacy of the church’s claims) were suspicious of Hofmann’s Salamander Letter. Though Hofmann’s “discoveries” of important Mormon documents often appeared to bolster the Tanners’ own arguments, Jerald had, by early 1984, concluded there was significant doubt as to the Salamander Letter’s authenticity, and “to the astonishment of a community of scholars, historians and students, published an attack on the so-called Salamander Letter.”[5] By late 1984, Jerald Tanner questioned the authenticity of most if not all of Hofmann’s “discoveries” based in large part of their unproven provenance. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salamander_letter#Suspicion_.26_Resolution
Very good question.

Probably 50% of the articles posted regarding Mormons are posted by those that believe Mormons are not Christian.
Those post serve as a call to others that don't believe Mormons are Christians to join on the thread and post similar opinions.
I don't think I would call most of those post 'Mormon' propaganda.
Probably 50% of the articles posted regarding Mormons are posted by those that believe Mormons are not Christian....Yep.
Those post serve as a call to others that don't believe Mormons are Christians to join on the thread and post similar opinions......Nope....those posts are to present the arcane and false beliefs of mormonism to lurkers and FReepers who are non-lds and think "mormons are just like us".
I don't think I would call most of those post 'Mormon' propaganda. ...Wrong...most of these articles are taken directly word-for-word from mormon sources, and most of mine are taken directly from lds.org the official mormon website.

Most of my posts are from the Mormon Times, KSL.com, and the Church News -- all owned directly by the Lds church structure. Even when I post articles from places like the SL Trib, it's columns by people like Rbt Kirby (who is Lds) or other journalists (like Peggy Fletcher Stack) who are Lds-friendly. [Tho I recognize the Trib is not always friendly to Lds by Lds standards]
What I find interesting is that's is not enough for Lds-controlled media to have its own opinion & commentary dominate Utah...If we post their stuff & actually object to anything, or mention a contrary view, we get personally attacked. (Sticking to the issues in the articles is where the focus should be -- not dwelling on guessing motivations -- as if others were our personal holy spirit -- and not engaging in ad hominens, like some lds are known to do).
I realize your articles are taken word for word from Mormon sources.
That was not my contention.
The articles are posted from Mormon sources so that many who do not think Mormons are Christian can dispute them.
There are many who see Mormon sources that are posted and think they are all posted by Mormons trying to convert others.
I was answering the question about why so many Mormon articles. Some are posted by Mormons trying to convert. Some are posted by others so that the Mormon beliefs can be disputed.
Seemed a simple expaination to me.
