I agree. It’s a straw man construction. No one thinks “that somebody from Mars is controlling their behavior”.

There are plenty of LSD burnouts who claim to be from Mars or controlled by people beaming signals at their brains. It comes from years of intense psychotic episodes induced by mind altering chemicals.

It doesn’t mean that their claims of being mind controlled have any merit.

Some of this lawyer’s clients may believe that they are being controlled, but that may just be because of past voluntary and/or involuntary ingestion of LSD and other substances. But the “claim” of control itself may be untrue while the damage claim is true.
