Saw this at a Husker football site. He was a great football player on the field and a great person off the field. Apparently he will be running as a Republican. I don't know the particulars of his politics, whether or not he is a RINO, but it is good to see him doing even more off the field.
Hayes was not a bad Congresscritter, strictly on his voting record, but he was a weak candidate without much oomph. Maybe he was just tired.
Anyway, the seat should be a fairly easy pickup for a forceful Republican candidate with some firm principles.

I always liked Mike Minter when he played. He was very professional and a great role model for the younger players. He was also open about his faith.
