The only way to go is up
Not only the motto of the 0-16 Detroit Lions but also of the Republican Party.
The Republicans are attempting a comeback. And thats a good thing for the remaining member(s) of the GOP. After all a new Washington Post/ABC poll shows that only 21 percent of Americans identify with the party.

So to invigorate the base and perhaps add new members to the team, the GOP has launched an initiative called the National Council for a New America.
House Republican Whip Eric Cantor is coordinating the effort alongside a powerful group of council members including John McCain, Jeb Bush, Mitt Romney, Bobby Jindal, and Haley Barbour.

LOL! Funny headline. The party of Mehgan!
It’s not really a fair comparison since the GOP had the Presidency and Congress just a few years ago while the Detroit Lions have sucked for decades.
Show me a Conservative Republican; I’ll campaign for them!

I don’t care about Republicans, I only care about conservatives.

Hmmm...I wonder what they hypothesis of this poll was? The pre-poll objective? </sarcasm>
OK, how will conservatives have electoral impact (again?)
Maybe they’ll change their logo to a meaner looking elephant!
Does this mean the socialist leadership is either dropping out of the party or converting to Conservatism?
Unless the GOP is returning to the vision of Ronald Reagan they are only becoming DNC lite.

There. I corrected if for you.
I live in Pennsylvania. Republican doesn’t mean conservative here. The only way to advance a conservative agenda is to advance conservatives. That’s what liberals do to advance liberalism.
“Show me a Conservative Republican; Ill campaign for them!”
How do you think Conservatives will reclaim electoral power?
“The only way to advance a conservative agenda is to advance conservatives.”
OK, what does that mean, though? How will it ultimately reflect itself in electoral power?
It means I haven’t seen any profit in voting for “moderates” like Arlen Specter. The Specters of the world are more than willing to compromise those things I’m for because they have a worldview that places no value on those ideas.
Notice liberals vote for those with a liberal worldview. That means they can trust the person they vote for to defend their agenda as well as they can.
I agree with you about moderates and conservatives. We must support all conservatives, every way possible. Because of the legal and rules limitations on 3rd parties and the lack of proportional representation, I say, we *must* remake the conservative wing of the R party, and grow it organically from the inside. This is not to say we can’t utilize 3rd parties (The Tea Party) at the state level. Not unlike the Reform Party in MN.
The Lions in 2007 started the season 6-2 and looked like serious contenders for the playoffs. Stories after stories came out from the media about their incredible comeback. They finished the season losing 7 out of the 8 remaining games. They won every preseason game in 2008 and then lost every regular season game in 2008.
