I doubt this is mischief, those things are all
automated. Not too likely human hands were ever
close to that container before it was vacuum sealed.
Just a guess, Burnt peanut
Fur shur, a cat dropping is going to be quite identifiable and not readily mistaken for a burned peanut.

too big for just a burnt peanut! It looked like something out of my cats litter box
