I too fail to see the humor in lying about your identity and misrepresenting your purpose in order to get someone on film. It is fraud. After I watched Borat, all I wanted to do was punch that guy in the bad area.M

ditto somebody needs to put that guy in the hospital for a week

The movie had funny segments, but was mostly just sad.

The critics apparently mostly got from it that ordinary Americans are unsophisticated and stupid.

What I saw was kind, decent people struggling to be tolerant of a foreigner who didn’t know how to behave. I did notice that the New Yorkers in the movie were a whole lot less willing to tolerate him than the Texans.
