More American women have fought and died in Iraq than in any war since World War II. Over 206,000 have served in the Middle East since March 2003, most of them in Iraq. Some 600 have been wounded, and 104 have died. Yet, even as their numbers increase, women soldiers are painfully alone. In Iraq, women still only make up one in 10 troops, and because they are not evenly distributed, they often serve in a platoon with few other women or none at all. This isolation, along with the military's traditional and deep-seated hostility towards women, can cause problems that many female soldiers find as hard to cope with as war itself - degradation and sexual persecution by their comrades, and loneliness instead of the camaraderie that every soldier depends on for comfort and survival.

Women in combat is not the ideal solution to the need for soldiers. My Daddy was a WWII combat veteran, and he was not in favor of either women or gays in combat. (In fact, he once stated that the few flaming homosexuals who started out in basic training did not generally make it through. War is hard to say the least and is not a social game. One commanding officer in more recent times said that when his group was ordered to “bug out” that the women were not able to do the heavy lifting of materials and machinery necessary to load up - so his outfit just didn’t “bug out” as ordered because they couldn’t. These parents who tell their daughters that they can do ANYTHING they want to do; well, yep, provided it’s affirmative action. Feminism has ruined this country, as has radical affirmative action.
Women have a vulnerability that men to not. Actually, several vulnerabilities. They do not belong on the battlefield, IMO.
I agree - this is sad. Though courage & bravery are up front & center with our soldiers, that bond made on a personal level with each other is an important one. They are away from home, loved ones, & friends. All they have is each other, which I believe keeps them strong & determined.
It’s sad to know that anyone who has what it takes to be in the military, can’t get the respect they deserve for putting their life on the line as well.

I agree. Of COURSE we cannot pull our own weight, move artillery, etc. What are they DOING there? It is all so very stupid.

Beyond whining and tears, there is rape, menstruation, possible pregnancy, and documented physical weakness. Nothing we can do about them. Maybe chemically interfere with some of it, but that brings its own problems.
Your husband hypothetically being protected by a teenage girl is especially weak, if he is any kind of man (which I assume he is!) he not only can’t count on her for protection but will end up having to protect or rescue her.
Add to this the sexual politics introduced by female soldiers, not necessarily deliberately, and we have been seriously weakened as a force.
Finally, I hate what this does to women. It attacks the true strengths that women to have.

I have never been in a mixed unit but I have witnessed stuff like that in other units with females, it is bizarre the Orwellian culture that we now live in.

That’s the whole point. Feminists have wanted to destroy the military for generations. The military by necessity affirms strong, masculine virtues and feminists are extremely threatened by this. Ultimately the entire left wants the military destroyed since it practices “discrimination” against the enemies of the U.S. and if there’s one thing lefties are proud of it’s how indiscriminate and undiscerning they are.

We don’t have the upper body strength evidently. I can understand auxiliary work, desk jobs, and so forth, if one is bent on a military job; however, there were 4F men and always have been who can do those jobs. It’s just a whole lot radical feminism and stiff necks. It’s made mock men out of a lot of women and girls who aren’t happy and don’t know why.

Why not just control the female quote to < 5%, that’ll be better, and try placing them in gender-segregated units.
