Do you know if the current rapture interpretation came from the Millerites of the mid eighteen hundreds?
I don’t know quite the history of all eschatology, but from what I understand the idea of a “rapture” really TOOK OFF sometime around then.
There could have been that kind of idea before, but I haven’t seen it.
What is amazing, I think, is how the focus was really on how Christians should LIVE, not on how the end was going to happen. :)
Of course, once Jerusalem was destroyed, folks began to reflect back...and see, perhaps, that this was the “Second Coming” in judgement.
