{snip} The French government forbids aiding illegal migrants and sets quotas for arrests of those who do as it tries to control growing clandestine immigration. This year's target: 5,000 arrests.

{snip}

The Immigration Ministry, created when President Nicolas Sarkozy took office in 2007, proudly makes public its yearly expulsion quota – the 2008 goal of 26,000 expulsions went far beyond to 29,796 – but, until now, there had been no talk of quotas for those who help those in the country illegally.

God bless Sarkozy at least he’s trying to save his country from the Islamic invasion.

Oh yes. lib/leftism is only a deathwish for America/Britain/Australia. In France, they can be lib/left, and STILL support their own vital interests.

Weird, no?

France learned the hard way. The U.S. is on the same path.

If we could pass the same law here, we’d only need to arrest 535 Congress Critters to accomplish our goals.

The laws are on the books. We just need to enforce them.

Perhaps the French aren’t so spineless after all, knowing the makeup of their immigrant population.

I’d be the first one to rejoice if it was an actual display of common sense.

Unfortunately, that law (which makes it an offense to aid illegal aliens) has been on the books in France for more than 30 years, and was never enforced. I fail to see why this would change now.

It’s one more histrionics from Sarkozy. The guy was elected on a manly, strong, conservative program. He turns out to be a bling-loving, celeb-mingling, rich lib. Conservatives in France feel cheated.

A child poses under a banner reading “I want to stay with my French friends” during an action asking for a meeting for immigrants at Paris’ prefecture after the French office for refugees and stateless people (OFPRA) was transfered from foreign affairs ministry to the new immigration ministry 13 June 2007, at Paris town hall. The action was organized by rights group Education Without Borders Network (RESF) which campaigns for illegal immigrants with children in French schools to be given residency rights and rights group Amnesty International denounced Wednesday the decision of the OFPRA transfer, fearing a confusion between asylum rights and regulation of would-be immigrants.
