Ever since Jordan, each team feels like it needs a Jordan, so every time down the floor is just an exercise in 1 on 1 skills.

Spot on. In fact, all the big leagues today are the same in that regard. NBA, NHL, NFL, MLB. They all have their individual performers who think it's all about the stats and the numbers they put up in order to get the big contract next year. But the teams that consistently win titles are those teams that "get it" and work as a team. That is what really makes it worth watching....i.e. The Playoffs.

The one exception is perhaps College Football. I'll sit and watch any college game at any point in the season. Because for them, every game is The Superbowl and I get that old thrill again when I watch it. Have you ever run onto a field in uniform with 10,000 cheering fans to greet your team? Believe me, it's like being plugged in to a 120 volt socket.
College football still has that excitement every game regardless of the teams involved.
Just my 2 cents.
