Force elected officials to have IRS audits 3 years in arears.

I heard this awhile back after a couple of Obama folks had tax troubles. I took the idea and tried to refine it to a workable law.

Here tis:

Every elected official from President to Congressman and ALL appointee's by said persons must submit yearly to an IRS audit to remain in office. The first year will require an audit for the past 2 years and the present year. Each year you keep the position will require that year's Tax return to be audited by the IRS.

I have submitted this to my Senators and Congress person. Nothing back from them yet. If we could get this rolling like the "Tea Party's have done in the recent past, it may gain momentum and make it difficult for the people to ignore it as a stunt. I'm serious as a heart attack. If they can't justify their Tax Return, then they don't need to be writing th Tax laws. The Appointee's need to be check to see if their is a finacial connection to the persons doing the Appointing. I should also think Federal Judges would fit that same requirement.

We wouldn't be required to see their finances like a FOI would do, but the IRS would merely be checking the numbers and making sure it made sense with the information they had. As an add on, we might even throw in a copy of their Birth Certificate to make sure we don't have a federal judge or a Secretary from a foreign country.

We have had continual problems with people in high places not passing the smell test when examined.( even in previous administrations). How have these people been Congressmen and Senators for years, even decades, and then fail to qualify for a Secretary position. As far as public info, we should be able to find out if, for example, a Labor Secretary ever accepted money from a union, or maybe a contruction company. Doesn't make them crooked, but it gives us info we may not have had to make our judgements on. I find that it seems to make a difference to some if they find out they used to work for a company that their spouse is now making billion dollar decisions about.

Just think, Kennedy, Kerry, and Barney Frank have been in office for years, but if they were considered for a Secretary of something, would this be the first real examination of their honesty in decades? It seems so. Even President Obama may have trouble explaining contacts with Rezko and other companions he has had dealings with if he were examined more closely. No one is accusing anyone of any wrongdoing, but to hold high office, you must at least have good character. It seems no one even looks until they are required to do so. Tom Daschle was a Senator for years and we can't know if he dodged taxes for decades until he tried for higher office. He could have even been President and we wouldn't have had a closer look at him before voting for( or against) him.

Seems like a reasonable requirement to recieve taxpayers money to me. I wouldn't doubt a rash of resignations if we could get this passed.

Add random drug and alcohol testing when congress is in session and I think we'll do some good.

Lets try not to completely shut the government down. Although, it might be interesting to get a sample from Messiah to see when that snort may have been.

Reading my mind are you ;^)
But seriously, with all the crap being swept under the rug tax wise, every one of the *asrtards should be audited immediately. As far as random drug and alcohol testing, every major company requires that of their employees. Our elected a$$-clowns in Washington are supposedly our employees (public servants) and work for us (/sarcasm).

Well, if you like the idea, contact your local tax cheat and see if they will suggest it as law. I think it is a reasonable request to someone that is running for office. The only way we are going to get anything done constructively is to protest and demand in the streets. We can melt the phone lines when we need to and can't afford to just coast into the next election.

If your congress critter seams lukewarm to the suggestion, demand to know why it doesn't make sense to them. Your mortgage company demands this info to get a loan, why not demand this info be checked to get a job in the government? Remember the "no doc" loans is why we are where we are today. "NO Doc" public officials have the same effect to government.
