Is there a backstory to this? I see him beating the crap out of her. But I don’t know why. And I don’t trust any of the information coming from the comments.
But,but, she kicked me first your honor.
She voted for Obama. Twice. So it’s okay. (-:
98% of police give the other 2% a bad name...
Also waiting to hear why Chris Brown beat up Rhianna. Sure initially it looks like beating up your girlfriend's face into a pulp is wrong but let's wait for the backstory.
Oh, I didn’t say there was any excuse to either of them, I just was wondering what prompted the guy to go crazy on the teen girl.
Yeah, the backstory is apparently that the girl borrowed her mother’s car without telling the mother. The mother called the police, who picked up the girl. The girl was arrested for ... well, I don’t know, but I assume it was for grand theft auto. The girl was taken to jail, and apparently told to remove her shoes.
As you can see in the video, the girl kicked off one shoe. The shoe may or may not have hit the officer (just out of camera range). It appears to me that she was preparing to kick off the next shoe.
What happened next, you can see on the video.
The girl was then charged with assault on a police officer. Apparently discovery of this video was part of the pretrial process.
Don’t give a DAMN why they did this - that was excessive and that @sshat needs to lose his badge and pension for that. She was under control and no longer any threat - no reason for this @sshat to beat that girl in the head, and then yank her up by her hair. I’d love to see that @sshat tasered.
Whilst I would be ticked she was kicking a shoe(s) at me, that comes nowhere even close to a reason (there really isn’t one anyways) as to beating the girl and picking her up by her hair. Seems like the cop should be brought up on charges as well.
“I just was wondering what prompted the guy to go crazy on the teen girl.”
Maybe he is contemplating a career change to the UFC and wanted to get a little ground n’ pound practice.
What a A$$****. He had to know he was on camera. Looks like the taxpayers will be paying out big time
He’s not much taller than she is.
He’s another Napoleonic Smurf with a badge.
It appears he is a massive jerk. It looks like she said something (probably mouthy) and then he went off. He had no right to do that, should be fired, and banned from being an officer ever again.
That cop needs to be fired. NOW.
i know people in LE... sometimes I wonder how they keep their composure at all! I know I couldnt put up with some of the stuff I hear.
She was lippy and tauting them for a long time, then you notice in this video just as he gets ready to close the door she kicks off her shoe at the officer
I almost feel sorry for the officer for what will happen to him, he did lose it. But if that was my teeanage daughter kicking a shoe at an officer she would have much worse to deal with when she got home.
I hope she learned something valuable here and they don’t diminish it but letting her feel like she will win some sort of triumph over the officer.
The cop is being charged.
The guy probably outweighs the girl by 100 pounds. There’s no reason for him to be sitting on top of her, punching her in the head.
It is not a cop’s job to punish anyone.
If you’re not capable of doing your job, find another one.
He’s paid to keep his composure.
However, I’m guessing the smart mouthed little girl knows that sometimes people don’t behave like you expect them to, and a smart mouth might get a fist shoved in it.
If that was my 16 year old daughter that he had done that to, I’m afraid I’d have ended up in jail myself.
OK, that helps. Overreaction by the gestapo. I have a very high disregard for cops. This is perfect evidence why. Law Enforcement used to be an honorable job. Police were respected. Now they are the lowest form of employment. When they cannot get a job anywhere else, then they are perfect fit to be cops.
And they charge her with assault.........? Someone needs to own that cop shop.
A 15 year old girl with an attitude.
Had one in my house for a while. She's lucky to be alive, daughter or not. It takes a great deal of restraint sometimes and these alien creatures are masters of manipulation. With much providential aid, most eventually become human again.
BTW, the cop behaved badly.
That little kick he gave her as he was going in for the takedown won’t nothing.
Those two punches to the back of the head are more disturbing considering that he had another deputy with him and she was already subdued. I don’t know.....maybe she just needed punching.
Question is, why did she kick her shoe at him? Did she mistake him for GW Bush?
This seems to be the same deputy involved in a shooting incident:

After seeing this current video, I have to wonder what really happened there.
I am 6’tall weigh 190 lb. and am 54 years old, how would you like to try that with me?
Aw you just don't understand--how tough it is for the wittle poweeceboys to take a bit of lip from a girl. Why, they might get teased by their friends and end up wetting their pants in shame. Better to just gang up on her two on one and show what men they are by beating the crap out of her.
I raised three of them and you know what, if you can't deal with a teenage girl without getting violent or entering a homicidal rage then maybe you belong in a home yourself somewhere.
Grow up people. This girl just flipped a shoe off, she didn't kill anybody.
Given that you have a perfect example of two wildly disparate worlds, there was no other way this could have ended. Sadly, that ending was typical of most one-on-one disputes with a police officer, especially in the closed confines of their own territory.
I am certainly not passing judgment on the behavior of either the cop or the teen, just observing that this was a clash of worlds, and a classic one at that!
Watch the video again. That's not what happened at all. That door was not about to be closed at the point in time that idiot charged in to beat up a defensless girl, and without any justification. The door was moving towards the jam, and then reopened by the idiot. Then the shoe came off, going forward at a very low trajectory. Feel sorry for him? The punishment that he WILL get will not be sufficient IMHO. I don't care what comments this girl made, there's absolutely no excuse for that man to have gone off in that way, and then pummel her head and pick her up by her hair after wrenching her arms back. Firing isn't sufficient - jail time is warranted. The law suit that this girl's family will win should be significant.
6’6” 245 43. You were saying? Oh wait you have a badge.
Our society is rapidly crumbling. If you want it to completely disintegrate just let psycopaths have a badge and gun. It doesn’t take too long to get the citizenry to a place where THEY start thinking its better to shoot first and ask questions later.
You cops out there better start thinking real hard about how much you want the pukes on your force to get away with their sick behaviour. Cause if you don’t clean up your own ranks it will be ALL of you that pay the price.
This is not an isolated incident. It happens regularly all across the land. And the cops protect each other. Not a god idea. There’s a few thousand of US for every ONE of you.
Bull Shit!
“Their own territory” INDEED.
They have no territory but their own yard and home. They work on MY territory. WE sign their paychecks. We provide their building, offices and tools. They are SERVANTS of WE the citizenry. They can take their ‘thin blue line’ crap and see how it plays in hell.
There is no thin blue line. Me and mine and my neighborhood could do a much better job of protecting ourselves without them thank you very much. Actually I think they do a pretty piss poor job.
It doesnt take too long to get the citizenry to a place where THEY start thinking its better to shoot first and ask questions later.
I’m already there. Almost nothing could get me to ask a cop to my house or for help.
For me, it would not matter if this young lady had slapped the officer prior to her coming into the camera’s view. What transpired on the video provides zero justification for what this man did. If there was something physical that this girl did outside of the video’s view, then why didn’t the “officer” react at that point? Why did he wait until such a small insignificant action as shown in this video? If a grown man cannot more effectively deal with verbal insults from a 15 year old then he has no business sporting a badge.
Watched it a bunch of times now. After she kicks the deadly converse sneaker in his direction he then: Comes in with a kick, a PUNCH TO THE FACE (watch it again), slams her face first against the wall, violent take down to the floor (which could have knocked teeth out if she fell wrong) and two punches to the back of the head.
This cop needs some jail time, he should never wear the uniform again.
Ah, pre-Purgatory, good job. I went to the dentist one time and he asked me "Do you know you grind your teeth?". I told him "Yeah, I've got teenagers".
They turned out OK. One's in St. Paul with a wife and four little ones (three girls and a boy). One (the former alien) is here with two little boys. The 'baby' is in Iraq with a Styker vehicle. He should be back in Fairbanks Tuesday for some leave to see his wife. I hear cold weather sometimes causes babies.
look, i am not saying the officer was right, he overreacted and should not be on the force if he has this little self-control.
But the 15 year old smartmouth snot who kicks off her shoe at a police officer is and example of EXACTLY what is wrong with our kids today.
My kids have more respect for police.
You are confusing form with function. Yes, you do indeed own the jail and the booking facility. That an a couple of bucks will get you a cup of coffee in a few places. In reality that is their territory and they feel, as evidenced by the video, they are under no constraints when they are operating in that space. They KNOW there is a video being made, but they are so accustomed to wielding power at their discretion that it doesn’t even occur to them that they might be doing something wrong.
I certainly agree with your point in principle, but reality is a different world and the injuries you receive in the real world are a lot more painful, and the emotional damage done, are a lot more lasting than the comfort you get, in principle.
you nailed it exactly.
He was supposed to keep his composure and he didn’t, now he will probably LOSE HIS JOB over a smartass little kid.
But I bet the smaretass snot now knows sometimes your smart mouth gets you what you don’t expect. I wonder what that kind of behaviour gets her at home?
By the way I’VE TALKED with some of these people. THEY TRY to get the cop to lose it so they can get a big payoff in court lawsuit.
I do not have any respect for any LEO who acts/reacts in the fashion this man did. He is not paid to enact punishment on another person because of some comment made to or about him, or a shoe which goes towards him at ankle level (notice that the shoe appears to be a sneaker - not much danger of injury from one of those). The disrespect this child demonstrated is not the issue in this case - sorry, but police have faced far worse behavior from far older and more dangerous people for untold years (since the birth of organized LE agencies). Crying about the disrespect of this child in the face of the beating she took is IMHO unbelievable.
what a bitchassed jailer
beat up a girl
geez
never did like hacks...well, maybe one or two
No matter what, unless the cop is physically assaulted, they need to maintain control of their emotions.
There is absolutely NO reason for a cop to have to let someone like that beat them at the game. He took a situation where he was totally in the right, and she was totally in the wrong, and let his lack of self control turn it into a situation where there is right and wrong on both sides. A situation that will take years to settle in court with no one coming out a winner.
A large part of defending against an attack, verbal, physical or emotional is to anticipate the attack and be trained in how to handle it.
Again, I was not defending anyone involved, simply pointing out that when two completely different, and usually at-odds worlds come face to face something’s gonna give. This is a perfect example of that.
'Roid Rage
Daniel Satterberg, the county prosecutor, said: "We believe this case is beyond just police misconduct, it's criminal misconduct. This is clearly excessive force."

Deputy Paul Schene has already been charged with 4th degree assault under Washington state criminal code. He is facing a year in prison if convicted. From the Seattle P-!:
-snip-
"If the matter were to go to trial, he could face additional charges," said Ian Goodhew, deputy chief of staff in the Prosecutor's Office.
In his own report from the incident, Schene wrote that the shoe hit him in the right shin, "causing injury and pain." He wrote that he "placed" her into handcuffs and that she needed medical attention for a "panic attack."
He said a "blood filled pocket" formed on his shin, requiring treatment at Auburn General Hospital, according to his report. The video, however, appears to show his shin strike a metal toilet as he pushes the girl against the wall.

The second officer might not be off the hook, either, since he did not report it. A detective saw the tape two days later and notified her supervisor. I guess it all depends on the Federal prosecutor.
