How would I ever get to use the word vestigial--withOUT talking about my little pink piggy tail--if it weren't for the mannips?
I’ll by that for a nippl..I mean nickle.
She’s probably envious that men don’t have “nipple envy.”
Why don’t Hollywood starlets have common sense. It seems her brain would rattle around in her head like a BB in a boxcar.
Of course, no one is truly interested in her intellect.
There, how's that?
The answer is “42”
They develop before the sex is really formed so men and women have them.
I wish!
but I know better...
Yep, seen that article and articles like it.
And actually, no, there is no conclusive answer to this question. There are only theories. Even the gene explanation does not answer the question, Why are the genes that way? In other words, why do men start out as women and then RETAIN this seemingly unnecessary attribute? Or, for those who believe in a higher power, why did God do it that way? Or (and now I’m getting into “New Age” territory), for those who believe that we all collectively are God and that gene patterns are simply the physical manifestation of mass-consciousness decisions, why did WE choose to design ourselves that way?
For me, as silly and trivial as the original question may seem, to actually answer the question conclusively requires some deep pondering, which means that the question does not have a conclusive answer. Even the scientists don’t all agree with the sciam.com guy’s “conclusive” explanation.
What a bimbo. How about, “because they are part of the human race!”
Scarlett, if that’s her real name, oughta sign on here and join the evo flame wars!
You know how GM and other car makers use common frames for different models?
You think they came up with that original design?
No.
Until the chromosomes kick in to make what is meant to be, the human embryo can go either way. From an efficiency of design perspective: make common parts and modify from there. Eggs become testes, nipples with or without mammary glands. The male package is the inverse of the female one.
Simplicity of design; not hard to understand at all. Well, unless you're a Hollywierd starlet with bigger boobs than brains. Not that we should hold that against her.
So why aren’t the nipples “modified out” of the male design completely? Don’t really need ‘em. Yet, there they are.
And males do have mammary glands.
OK, then why do hermaphrodites have nipples?
